@iulia.bianca.b3 жыл бұрын
I've never worked as a food delivery employee, but even I, as a census worker back in 2011, was strictly prohibited from entering people's homes. It was the main rule. We did it all outside, on the front door, even if the person had questions needing clarification. I had someone lose their damn mind over a question that was in there, and I was glad I wasn't inside his house. Man could have easily assaulted me. That rule is there for a simple reason: our own safety.

As a fellow Doordash delivery driver, here’s an easy tip to anybody doing these jobs as well. Do NOT enter anybody’s house. If I feel sketchy about a certain delivery, or the area that I’m in, I just leave it outside the door, even if they requested for me to hand it to them. I’ll take a bad review any day over having to experience something like this. And trust me, I’ve come close.

Story 7 is eerily my worst nightmare. Can't believe that's actually real. I was a pool cleaner when I was getting certifications and going to school for cybersecurity. After years of working miserable soul-crushing manual labor and retail jobs I was pretty depressed and beat down by the world. When I finally got my first IT job it was one of the best days of my life. I kept thinking something would happen to me on my last day just because I was in such a bad mental state. Like Delivery drivers I spent most of my day at complete strangers houses so I ran into all kinds of crackpot nutcases. The fact that his story mirrored my absolute worst fears really speaks to me. That was hard to listen to. I know exactly what he was going through and how exited he must have been to achieve his goals and move on to a job he would actually enjoy. Heartbroken that he didn't get to move on to the better stage of his life like I was luckily able to do.

These are some of my favorite stories to hear from this channel. It just goes to show you that you never know what kind of weirdos are ordering food from restaurants, or assaulting/detaining delivery people on their way like in the first story. Seriously, those sadistic bullying shits should be in prison at the very least. Story Seven hits a bit close to home, with COVID 19 quarantine standing in for a murderer stymying my chances at a successful life, taking its toll on my (already troubled) mental state where no stab wounds are visible.

Once when I was still doing food deliveries I delivered to Chicago South Side’s bad neighborhood. It was around 11pm or 12am. Nice girl came out in front of the condo building to pick up her food. When I was handing it to her she asked me if I want to come upstairs. I believe you all know what’s going on inside guys head when he gets offer like that. Wasn’t the case with me though. Yea, I had this image of making out with her for split of a second but I felt in my guts something isn’t right right after this image disappeared. I just said “Thank you, have a good night” and got back to my car. As I was starting it I took a glance at the building and I think I saw someone barely visible in one of the windows, hiding behind a curtain or something. I might have imagined that but I took off as fast as I can, took highway close to this place and headed back to Chicago’s downtown where I mostly delivered back in the days. I believe I didn’t take any more orders that day and drove home. I didn’t think much about it back them but now as time passed, I can only imagine what could have happened. Either I missed getting laid by a pretty girl or I saved my life.
