the origin of the table tapping in the "Tea Pourer" scene is that back in Qing Dynasty, Emperor Qian Long had dressed as citizens and traveled around China tried to see what the country he ruled really be like outside the palace, when he was in the restaurants, he always pour tea for his retinues. Maybe he really was a nice person idk, but back in the palace, in situation like this, people had to kneel down to show gratefulness to the Emperor. But they were out in some random restaurant and the Emperor really didn't want anyone to recognize him, so the retinue began to do those "finger kneels" instead.

I myself do not do these thing but I will slurp a milkshake and will share with my husband and kids but no one else. I mean if they want a bite of my food I will give them a bite. I know it is gross but in my mind we all live together and share the same germs anyway and none of them are old enough to date so no problems there. You guys should do a video on discreet asian customs. That tapping you were doing in the tea pourer section goes back to an ancient Chinese story. Quick synopsis of the the story goes: One day a king and his two guards sneak out of the palace to experience the life of a commoner, the king goes to a tea parlor for dim sum and has his guards sit with him the king notices that people in the parlor poured tea for each other around the table so he took it upon himself to pour tea for himself and his guards. The guards got on their knees and started bowing cause no king ever poured tea for them. He told them to quickly get up before anyone would see and told them to tap two fingers on the table to signify bowing instead. That is the story my grandfather told me! =D

I remember my grandmother being the food insister, she would never let me leave the table unless I had thirds when I was a kid! Mythbusters actually put double dipping to the test on one of their older episodes. They came out with that it doesn't really matter. But I think it's just more of a courtesy not to double dip because (at least for me) I was always told never to double dip since it's considered rude.
