Double-dippiing? My wife goes NUTS when she sees you guys using your OWN chopsticks when helping yourselves from a serving dish! She always makes sure that there are enough serving spoons or a set of chopsticks for each item on the table. If not, we use the opposite ends of our own chopsticks to serve ourselves. If we come to Flushing and she catches you, expect a (motherly) b***h-slap upside your face. :-) Oh, and we love all your shows, seriously.

the origin of the table tapping in the "Tea Pourer" scene is that back in Qing Dynasty, Emperor Qian Long had dressed as citizens and traveled around China tried to see what the country he ruled really be like outside the palace, when he was in the restaurants, he always pour tea for his retinues. Maybe he really was a nice person idk, but back in the palace, in situation like this, people had to kneel down to show gratefulness to the Emperor. But they were out in some random restaurant and the Emperor really didn't want anyone to recognize him, so the retinue began to do those "finger kneels" instead.

What about the guy that is picky about his food and will sit there picking out pork skin or certain parts of chicken. I've also seen those that see something they don't really like so they spend half an hour picking out what they don't want to eat. There is also the mothers that tell you "Eh Sonny! You shouldn't eat so much food. Do you want to get fat?" Good video, though! Keep putting them out!

I'm not even Asian but went to a college where many of the students were and so they would get visits from family every so often and my friends would invite me to kick back as an outsider and watch the fun unfold at meals. XD

You forgot the "hot/cold" food expert that tells you not to eat "cold" food when youre hungry Hot food could be lychees and cold food could be hot tea so it gets confusing

Team Dan. I'm all for double-dipping with family and friends. A family who doubles dips together (and shares drinks together) stays together! I guess if I were strangers I wouldn't be as inclined to double dip, but I still wouldn't have a huge problem with it.

The corresponding body part thing comes from having very similar organs so eating them gives you an extra and balanced supply of food that your body is more likely to use to make that part of your body healthier.

In my family we have the slurper, the inhaler and the double dipper. We are all white. I myself do not do these thing but I will slurp a milkshake and will share with my husband and kids but no one else. I mean if they want a bite of my food I will give them a bite. I know it is gross but in my mind we all live together and share the same germs anyway and none of them are old enough to date so no problems there. Except for my 18 year old but he moved out and we don't share food because he doesn't live here and also he dates.

Team Dan for double dipping under certain circumstances. Strangers and non-close friends have cooties, no people who have too much saliva, and not if somebody is sick or thinks they might be.

Omg, my mom is definitely the "instant" one. Except she dies it with constantly trying to get people to try foods that they don't want to eat. She'll basically just try to stuff foods in people's mouths as they're trying to run away. She did this to me with herring and sour cream and I think I'm scared for life lol.

You guys should do a video on discreet asian customs. That tapping you were doing in the tea pourer section goes back to an ancient Chinese story. Quick synopsis of the the story goes: One day a king and his two guards sneak out of the palace to experience the life of a commoner, the king goes to a tea parlor for dim sum and has his guards sit with him the king notices that people in the parlor poured tea for each other around the table so he took it upon himself to pour tea for himself and his guards. The guards got on their knees and started bowing cause no king ever poured tea for them. He told them to quickly get up before anyone would see and told them to tap two fingers on the table to signify bowing instead. That is the story my grandfather told me! =D

I agree with the food benifit thing cause when my grandma makes fish soup, my mom is like eat the fish soup, it will make your skin smoother or prettier. It's annoying!

I remember my grandmother being the food insister, she would never let me leave the table unless I had thirds when I was a kid! Mythbusters actually put double dipping to the test on one of their older episodes. They came out with that it doesn't really matter. But I think it's just more of a courtesy not to double dip because (at least for me) I was always told never to double dip since it's considered rude.
