I do "assemble the clarinet" and "play just for fun" like you. Plus, if I'm not in the mood I tell myself that 10 minutes is better than nothing. I may then keep it at 10 minutes, but it frequently doesn't seem so bad once I get started so I may end up with a normal routine after all.

For me, just leaving the case open makes me want to play...just seeing my saxophone or clarinet makes me want to play. I always warm up wailing on a blues in F or Bb. As I get warmed up, I start swinging on a medium tempo swing tune or blues. You can't leave your horn hidden in its case. Pianos are and instrument just sitting there waiting to be played as if they're saying..."Someone play me please!' With wind instruments, once that case is shut, the procrastination begins.

ironically, something that motivates me to practice is watching band tiktoks and band media, it sounds counterintuitive but surprisingly it works seeing really good clarinet players or hearing a funny song and being like "hey i wanna try that out"

I've unfornately got covid these days. The worst is over due to three jabs (I am 70 years) but I am still so weak and coughing, that I hardly can make a sound on a 2.0 reed. This is my excuse for not practising.

If I assemble the clarinet then It's easy, you just play. The boring part is after, when you have to clean the water of the holes. That's the most boring part for me.
