0:44 "She's very, very boring...very dry. We're going to wetten it up by adding a basic EQ filter." Too funny not to quote that out of context lol. But fantastic tutorial none the less and these techniques can be applied to any DAW or session. Something that isn't emphasized enough that is often overlooked is get in the habit of resting your ears. If you've just spent 3 or 4 hours straight producing a song in the morning don't then immediately jump into mixing. Don't start mixing until the evening same day or better yet until the next day after you have taken a break. As you're producing/arranging music the process of replaying the same song 1000s of times in a row subconsciously your brain becomes acclimated and expectant of those sounds as they are whether good or bad. Even if you're aware of this phenomenon and privy to it with all your might there's lots of sounds that your brain will bypass or look past. You will be amazed at how much stuff you missed or got wrong when you approach it the next day with fresh ears. 😀

These tips are so helpfull😊 The hardest thing for me is acually finnishing Songs properly , i always get super exited at first but when its time for mixing i go like ”nah this track sucks i want to make something else, but better finnish it” and do a crappy job with the mixing and eq because i want to start working on something new😅😥. Anyone relating to this ?

At least you take it to the mixing stage, I fail to move ahead of my 16 bar Verse 😂😂
@jg78493 жыл бұрын
Used to happen to me quite often. Takes some discipline and habit but I say before you sit down to start tracking you may want to play the song a few times over to make sure is cohesive. It may not be your "best" song but if it has fluidity its a lot more enjoyable. That said, once you decide to track said song and you are sure of it then, set a goal to complete the song by a certain date and have a strategy of what you are doing each day, take notes, listen etc. Designate separate days for Tracking, editing, mixing and mastering. This way you are focused. Lastly be patient and celebrate your small accomplishments. You nailed down the takes? Cheers to that. You finally figured out what that whistle was? Cheers to that. So in short have fun.
@quinten19463 жыл бұрын
@@jg7849 This advice tops all the basic tricks in the video. The importance of motivation and dedication are often underestimated. I used to have a lot of projects crashing and losing a lot of work all the time, which makes it seem like it was all for nothing. Now I took some precautions like saving it automatically and as different versions. Furthermore, mentally I try to see it as an learning experience. So if something accidentily sounded cool, redoing it was a way of building routine of certain techniques.
