Would like to hear your take on a merengue beat like some of the EDM producers have done lately

in technique 5, why dont you show us the audio effects added to the serum? Clearly a new preset with unison and filter change does not sound the same at all. This is misleading :(

That sixth progression reminds me of Solarstone and Farius - Velvet Tread. Such an emotional sound

I've been making music on and off since high school but it was always a hobby for me. I always wanted a career in music but kinda gave up because while I could make a song, I rarely knew what I was actually doing. There's thousands of tutorials out there but very few actually dive into the "why" essentially making the info irrelevant to any newcomers. It's channels like yours that made me fall in love with making music again. Thank you for everything you do for the community man.

The technique you demonstrate at 9:13 is what I absolutely hate to hear. Maybe people's hearing is used to that now as it sounds _similar_ to the gain pumping effect of excessive dynamic compression. To my ears, the sound played at 9:25 sound far more natural and pleasing. I fear three decades of overuse of dynamic compression by most of the record producers has resulted in a generation of producers that actually think the gain modulation this involves sounds good 🙄

Another thing for taking out the low end of everything else: ALWAYS CHECK YOUR HIHATS. You’ll be surprised how many hihat samples have phantom sub frequencies that can mess up your mix.

The two loop method here lines up with something I learned years ago in high school band and music theory, that most musical phrases are in 4 or 8 bars. I'm not sure if there's something inherent to our brains, or if we are culturally predisposed to expecting music to operate in 4 or 8 bars, but it's a phenomenon that goes back to classical music.

Nobody listen to this. Layer 2 sub basses and add delay, reverb, and chorus. That will give you a faaaat sub.
