I just wanted to give a little information about your "whiter eyes" tip. I am an ophthalmic technician, and I work in an office with a doctor that specializes in Dry Eye Syndrome. We recommend a TON of different brands of over-the-counter eye drops to patients. But, the one drop we tell patients to avoid is Visine. Most people take it to make their eyes look whiter, because it essentially "shrinks" the blood vessels covering that area. It does NOT nourish or soothe your eyes, or take away the feeling of dryness, because it's not for dry eye. It can also have a "rebound redness" effect, if used too often, because your eyes become almost "addicted" to the drops. If you want your eyes to feel less dry, you want to use a lubricating eye drop. But, for the effect you are talking about in the video, you would be looking to use a product like Visine - but it should be used VERY sparingly, if at all.

Instead, I saw I sweet woman trying not to be judgmental while giving women advice on their appearance (an inherently touchy subject). This video is for people who are "interested" in looking prettier, if you think you are all pretty enough then what are you doing here watching it? This beauty tips are actually good, just small details that will make a difference.
@IzzyNChrist6 жыл бұрын
I think it was how she worded it that makes it a problem. To make a statement like "how to look prettier" implies that the person doesn't already have natural beauty. I think if she had titled it something like "how to enhance your look tips and tricks" it would have made it less offensive. Also, it was just the fact that she said "let's make men swoon" that makes people feel like they need to "fit a standard" and only reinforces the message that they're not naturally attractive enough already.
@IzzyNChrist6 жыл бұрын
I never said her video deserved hate. I just don't agree with how she's worded things. Also, beauty is subjective. These are all her opinions, if you look through the comments not everyone agrees with what she says. People have a right to disagree. That's what the comments section is for.

The skin sucking thing, fyi, temporarily fixes fine lines because of the trauma to the skin being sucked so hard, its swelling. But in the long run your skin is being stretched and wrinkles will end up being worse. Sorry for the dermatology 101.

Christina D What is the science behind the derma rollers? They leave tiny micro cuts on the skin (trauma) and this causes blood to rush to the area and blood promotes healing. Is this similar to the "sucking" trauma?

Men like women who look like women. Men generally can't see beyond the outlines of your clothing; they really assume that you're shaped like that! It sounds crazy, but it's true. A lot of women don't find this out until after they're married and their man doesn't have to hide what he thinks any more.

My 8 Tips to Stop the Ugly 1. Don't hate on a woman making a perfectly nice and informative video [for you]. 2. Be yourself: Well myself feels insecure about the thinning hair so that eyeshadow trick will definitely help! Myself also incorporates longer lashes into personal style so that castor oil will be worth a try. Myself also wears baggy clothes on the fat days so her trick of making one piece form fitting is genius. Her husband, [who tells her she's beautiful no matter what but she doesn't listen to] thanks you. 3. Be yourself: Embrace your insecurities. We all have them! It's kind of what makes hair and makeup so much fun, if you think about it. And I'm even a low-mid maintenance girl. 4. Be yourself: Your insecurities are actually part of who you are. By other people telling you otherwise, it can make you feel worse about them. Instead, go on KZbin and find some videos that might help. Check out that Shea Whitney channel - some pretty unique tricks brought up-like involving castor oil... 5. Don't use social media to bully. Don't go on someone's video and sully it with negativity. Is it your right? Constitutionally, yes. But rights come with responsibilities. 6. If you ever feel that a video might be damaging to a viewer, constructively tell them in a comment - as blasting them is definitely ironic in all the worse ways. (yes, I'm using the word _ironic_ correctly) 7. Bolster anyone who has the ladyballs to post a channel about beauty tips! 8. Don't hate. (but hey, when those frown lines get to you, I know a video that has a tip for that...)

Denise, I think I speak on behalf of most of the negative commenters. Some people feel very insecure about themselves and will be immediately click on a video that guarantees that they will be prettier. Many people (I used to do this myself) will not put things into perspective and will completely set their mind to the first few sentences they hear; things about developing beauty on the outside and impressing boys. They live their life thinking “do I look perfect in this moment” or “omg there’s a boy looking at me I better look the best I can” and they forget to be themselves/let their personality shine through. A lot of us (including me) are here to remind these people not to obsess about looking good in everything they do, but some ppl do this in a different form and instead criticize the vid, which isn’t the best way to get the message through. Anyway, I just want you to know that many of us have good intentions, even though our actions may be extreme some of the time. Thank you for your time.

Being a woman myself, with a young daughter, I just want to say this (in response to your opening line of "let's make the boys swoon"): BE BEAUTIFUL for YOURSELF!!! don't waste as many years as I once did trying to measure up to some false standard of beauty! Pretty is as pretty does. Speak kind words, do kind things, see the beauty in others. All this will shine through! THEN give a thought to making the outside what YOU want to see 😚 PS: you are already ENOUGH. despite what advertising and the media want you to believe. PPS: not feeling great about yourself? make an effort to compliment and lift up other women, it NEVER fails to get me out of my own head when I think of others! and, you never know what that compliment may mean to someone! we ladies have to start building eachother up!✌

Rachel W you are a fantastic mom, we really can never be too positive or supportive of young women and ALL women! And yes, I agree -- it really does help to be around positive role models and to make others feel better when I feel the worst about my ugly face....or at least the face the world has told me is not "perfect." I hope that any young girl feeling crap about herself the way I always have gets to be around people like you;) It's rough out there, esp. Instagram. So sick of the airbrush and filter and photoshop.....it's getting so that everyone looks the same.

Rachel W : Wow, what beautiful thoughts. Living in America, land of materialism and esoteric beauty, it's refreshing to hear words encouraging people to THINK OF OTHERS. Kids sometimes become self absorbed, with an inflated opinion of their own self worth and have little humility. They need to be taught to become dutiful, civic minded (doubt Civics is taught in school anymore), and to deposit value to the bank of life, versus just making withdrawals! ----> I've studied how Asians (in Jamaica, China and who live in the US) behave. Those that preserve their value for the family in general, it's noticable how they treat their grandparents, like a gem for their wisdom, just for being their predecessors. ---> I've been giving thought to enacting an awareness that preteen and teenagers volunteer time in nursing homes or hospitals, just reading to the aged and asking; 1. If their day is going well, 2. what they are most proud of, 3. what advice they would give to government, 4. how could schools (from kindergarten to academia) better impact our society and implement meaningful change. ----> The aged are gems of knowledge, just waiting to be tapped and can shed a light on History from a personal perspective. Some of it can possibly be worth being chronicled.

a rashid social media makes me feel more confident, seeing photos of myself and knowing i’m not the only one who thinks i’m pretty, as someone who has done the social media cleanse i don’t enjoy it but i agree that instagram models are pretty harmful and i only follow people who i know or people i like seeing posts from (celebs, bands, hairstylists). i do have friends who delete their social medias as well and it is a refreshing break, but if you’re following the right people it’s actually a nice way to document the happy days of your life

Ignore the clowns! I truly appreciate and value all of your videos but especially ones like this because I am an avidly indulgent crossdresser and even though I was blessed with facial features more pretty and feminine than handsome and masculine I can use every tip and trick available to look my feminine best. I don't just throw on any old bra stuffed with socks and a dreary house dress, no way! I dress en femme first class! I keep my entire body sans scalp free of hair....i go full piece coordinated lingerie...pantyhose...if I am going to wear a dress I wear panties then pantyhose then a bra then a full slip then often a tightly-laced underbust corset...I do my nails and hair and wear perfume and cute shoes or boots...no schlock laziness...cis girls have told me I am worse than any girl they know when it comes to my makeup perfection...I always get hit on by straight guys when I go out and I just smile and say: "Thank you! I am truly flattered, but I have a penis in my panties"...sometimes guys have even then said: "I have no problem with that. You are one fine hottie no matter what you are packin."...other guys lacking class have simply then asked: "Is it hard (or stiff)?" or: "How big." which I actually like because then I get to say: "Oh, it's a tiny micro. Useless to women." So THANK YOU for helping me be a woman to make all women proud! I'm going up to a casino as Snow White in about an hour.

i love that she made ONE comment about looking good for boys in a 9:46 second video as a cutesy joke to introduce the video topic and y'all are hating on her, but somehow think that leaving negative self-righteous comments makes you a good person. First, there's nothing wrong with wanting to look good for boys - a lot of girls want to look good in front of crushes boyfriends, or husbands and there's nothing wrong with that. Second, that wasn't even the point of the video. The video is about cheap effective tips to improving your appearance. Thats it. And third, there's nothing wrong with girls wanting to improve their appearances in general. Most girls like makeup and wearing cute clothing and being creative with their look - of course there are girls who don't like that and prefer a natural look, which is fine, but that doesn't make liking those things bad and it doesn't make the girls who like makeup and fashion shallow and vapid. tl;dr this is a good video with good tricks for improving your appearance, so stop making it about how tragic it is for girls nowadays to be forced to wear makeup when half the time they're begging their moms to go to ulta or sephora and are trying to look prettier because they want to.

Everyone who is bashing this sweet woman shouting in the name of feminism is negating their own arguments before it even leaves their mouths. Lift each other up. @Shea - I am 26 and never had the positive, safe environment to really explore my feminine side with encouragement. I'm not saying that abstaining from makeup and the like is wrong, I really made peace and accepted that it wasn't for me. The problem was that I did without even really trying it out. Now that I am in a place where I can explore my sense of personal style, fashion, etc. I find your videos really helpful, and they are simple enough that I can feel confident in achieving clear results. I'm nowhere near obtaining a nice "smoky eye" but I just wanted to thank you for helping this duckling find her inner swan. I appreciate the time you take to show women like me ways we can take stock in ourselves. Like you said about how being pretty is not the only reason, just spending a little more time caring for ourselves can make a difference in how we handle our esteem. Keep going lady! I get you. I was raped a lot as a kid so being feminine has always felt too risky for me. I don't like the kind of attention I get. Makes me anxious and angry actually. Now that I'm older I'm feeling like I never got to FEEL like a woman. Like any gender really. I'm more androgynous, which I also find attractive in others. However, there is absolutely nothing wrong with being a feminine woman. Society likes to turn women into caricatures. Why women even do it to themselves. (Looking at YOU, Kardassians.) As long as you're genuine and authentic, expressing your womanliness would be soothing for everyone that encounters you. Like a gorgeous flower in full bloom. That's a power that we, uniquely as women, possess. I'm sad I didn't feel safe enough to feel that and express that. Making an effort at looking beautiful doesn't have to be shallow and moronic (You again, Kardassians), it COULD be simply blossoming in a way that feeds others somehow. It could be destiny. Maybe we, as women, are destined to feed others with our beauty. (If men want to grab it, that's their problem. There are laws for that shit. Not that they ever served me. At all. Ever.) Still, I'm the one in the baggy clothes, with no make-up and thin hair along the sides of my ponytail. No men give me any attention and I like it that way. Do you REALLY wanna be like me? :D :D

xnn unknown is right, though. if you are are unhappy about your body or face or ANYTHING you shouldn't be scared to change. changing yourself really improves self confidence and is the reason why people want to lose weight. there's nothing wrong about trying to be prettier and there's nothing wrong with accepting yourself. but it's really harmful to say 'you are beautiful, dont change' when some feels ugly and wants to change.

I'm so sorry you have to endure the negative comments from the insecure internet trolls. You know the old saying "misery loves company" these bullies thrive on it, and feed off of each other. Last time I checked it was still legal to be pretty. Maybe not politically correct, but there is nothing wrong with turning a head or two, and any tips that can help with that, I'm all for it. My grandmother's advice for if you had to leave the house without your face being made was, big sunglasses and lipstick. And as for baggy clothes, we all wear them on our "fat days." There's nothing like a big ole shirt and some yoga pant's to run around in. I agree that a pure essential oil COULD have a negative effect. Too strong. But that doesn't mean ALL of them WILL hurt you. I use all kinds of oils and my skin is clear and strong. They can really feed your skin and completely change the texture. They can also give you huge pores and pimples. It depends, like everything else. But Vintner's Daughter is all I use most nights. Incredible stuff. Chia oil. Hemp oil, extremely moisturizing. All of them have essential herbals mixed in but yes, they all use a soothing carrier oil. Wax will clog your pores so what other alternative is there? Oil or wax.

The tips are useful, thank you. Nothing wrong with taking care of your appearance. It's not as if she's plastering herself in 50 layers of Mac cosmetics. Just remember to always be yourself, the thing which sets us apart and makes us unique is that we are all different; so flaunt your own individuality, mind, body and soul and be proud of YOU. 💖

Eyedrops restrict your eye veins and long term use can actually make your eyes veinier
@jaycieduncan54056 жыл бұрын
And maybe that happens if you use eye drops too often. She did say, “Do not use the eye drops every day. Only use when you want them to be whiter OR when they’re feeling red and dry.” So as long as you follow those instructions properly, then it should be fine.
@ca96856 жыл бұрын
@Tangential_Tangine TheraTears are fine, they're just lubricant drops... and unless they're single use ampules, they do have preservatives. The preservatives are not the issue. The active ingredient in the Original Visine formulation she showcased can cause dryness and rebound redness after just one use. I'm a pharmacist.
@MrsLaurenJo6 жыл бұрын
Absolutely agree. Visine is the absolute worst. Full of preservatives, and a Vasoconstrictor which is how it reduces redness. Find an eye drop that’s preservative free, reducing dryness should reduce a little redness.

Hi Shae, we must think alike because I've learned many of these tips by trial and error as well. Would like to just add that as well as darker shadow on the hairline, you can also use luminous paler shades to mimic freshly done foils in the hair. Gold tones on dark hair look amazing by just running the shadow down the hair strands using a toothbrush or even two fingers.

demi etc. yes when I am way too thin, like now, I have to make sure not to emphasize it with dark tight clothes. She got it all wrong; dress to flatter your body. It's not hard to figure out when you try clothes on; you want to emphasize what you like and play down what you don't. e.g. I love my waist and midsection so I always want to adjust and change clothing to flatter that. Baggy IS good for some. Totally useless.
@Serenadesong6 жыл бұрын
Baggy is good for no-one. I am super skinny as well, and yes you don't want to wear black skin tight clothes that emphasize it, but hiding your body under potato sacks makes you look dumpy and frumpy. You may be hiding your skinny self, but you're looking bad in another way. The best clothes are ones that just actually fit you reasonably well. People just get offended with the whole don't wear baggy clothes thing because they want to hide their body or be lazy.

Gina D My hairstylist used Bumble and bumble hair powder for this purpose. At first I was sceptical but it is a brilliant product. If you go to their website and search "hair powder" you can choose the one that is best for your hair color. One of the great things about this product is that you can still style your hair after you have applied it. It works to fill in the hairline or thinning spots and to cover up grey roots.
