I avoided the sun for 40 years Last winter a neighbor said I was the palest person she'd ever seen in person. That used to be a badge of honor for me. But over the past year I heard several doctors I deeply respect agree with you that we need 15 minutes of sun exposure a day on our skin without sunscreen. I still put Korean sunscreen on my face, but I've been getting sun on my body, and I can't believe how much it's helped my mood and sleep. Not to mention making me look a lovely golden brown. I started out with five minutes on each side, and I slowly worked up over the course of 6 weeks to 15 minutes on each side.

@jackiewhitney5031 I'm not sure this is what the commenter said. She still puts the sunscreen on her face, as so does the author of the video. Your face is constantly exposed to the sun or other types of light, so it makes sense to protect it from sun damage.

In defense of gray hair, it’s not that gray isn’t beautiful, but for most people, it’s the lack of contrast between your skin tone and the gray hair, it the contrast against the darker hair around it. Gray can be lovely - but it’s about the shading and tone of it.

Exactly the same here. I have premature grey hair on both sides of my family tree. I found my first grey hair at 16 and that took me down the road of constantly having to dye my hair. (Originally in my teens I was only using rinses) then I reached the age where staying brunette was getting too hard. I would get my hair regrowth done and it would only take one week’s growth and I had a silver line right around my face. I then tried the gradually growing blonde and I just didn’t like the look of it on me. Partly because whilst the front and crown of my hair were silver the back of my hair and my eyebrows are still very dark, some people rock the black eyebrows and blonde hair but not me! So when Covid hit I cut my hair short and just let it grow out. I will say that I do get way more compliments on the days that I have taken the time to put on a bit of makeup. I think it brings colour and dimension to my otherwise very fair skin, without it I feel that my face and hair just blend into to each other too much. I am now 57 and I still have quite dark salt and pepper hair at the back very silver everywhere else but I’m almost pure white right around my face thus the stark featureless face and hair front on. I LOVE the freedom of not having to spend money and not having to worry about chemicals, so much that I wish I had been brave enough to embrace it in my 30’s. But we live and learn 😊

I love my self tanner. I avoid the sun now that I’m older and spent way too much time in the sun when I was young. Having a tan, even if it’s fake, makes a huge difference in how you feel. I wouldn’t want to live without it !!!

I completely agree! Self tanner or a spray tan improves my confidence exponentially and, in my opinion, doing whatever makes you feel confident is the actual #1 way to look more attractive. Being from the Midwest, I don't always have the luxury of seeing the natural sun every day. I would rather have a dark patch of over-developed tanning product on my foot or knee than feel insecure about my skin being so pale it feels see-through.

Re: Vaping, I did a First Aid course last week and the instructor was talking about the studies on the toxicity of the chemicals in vapes and the increase in cases of popcorn lung and early emphysema etc. She then went on to talk about importance of people who vape not going near babies without changing their clothes and washing their hands, brushing their teeth and still having to not breathe on babies. I think there may have been someone in the front row that gave her one of those looks that said “I call BS” Because she changed her tone and appeared to be looking at one particular person and she said “I’ll tell you how poisonous that stuff is, if you were dumb enough to crack your vape open and drink the contents you would be dead within hours and there isn’t a single thing that anyone could do to save you” 😮 I’m not a smoker and I have never even considered vaping. When they first came out I didn’t think they would take off because I thought everyone would be asking themselves what I was, how on earth can inhaling chemicals be better than cigarettes which are only partially chemical and they are reeking havoc? If you vape I strongly urge you to give it up asap

I’ll continue enjoying my sunscreen and staying out of the sun while taking a vitamin D supplement. The sun’s rays may be natural but they’re also ULTRAVIOLET RADIATION THAT ALTER DNA and are the NUMBER ONE CAUSE OF PREMATURE AGING and wrinkling. Enough with this pseudoscience.

Plus I burn real easy, even with sun block. I embrace my skin color just as much as I embrace my natural blonde hair which is now turning Silver at age 64.🤗 I stand 5' 2" tall & I weigh 82 pounds. Sometimes people have literally asked me if I'm feeling ok, that I look extremely pale, But thats just my natural skin color. I avoid going out side basically for safety reason's, but also to avoid the hot sun & its bright blinding glare, I just live my life in a way thats best for me.❤ If scientists love the sun, They can have it. It’s easy for Shea to cover her few white hairs every “few months”, but for those of us whose many more white hairs show up after two weeks or less, it’s a lot different, with dying it every 3-4 weeks. But I do agree that young colored hair will give the illusion of looking younger. I also think when you are as young as Shea, it’s kind of a bummer when you are prematurely gray. That said, some of us viewers are older and have embraced our age

For several years I have been going for a walk every afternoon. I don't burn anymore. I have a healthy golden color to my skin now in the summer and I love it. Daily sun makes me feel good. Agree with all except the sun. If your skin changes color it is damaged and speeds aging. Pale can be lovely just make sure it’s healthy. But the other tips are spot on!

Having the sun everyday is the best thing you can do for your health. I feel we have been so lied to over the years and most of us are slowly waking up everyday.

Maureen said if your skin changes color in the sun, it is being damaged, not that a few minutes is the end of the world. Your skin tans because it is trying to protect you from more damage. As a pale person I can tell a difference in my skin if I go too long without sunscreen. Also, it depends on where you live. 15 mins in Michigan is way different than 15 mins in Puerto Rico.

It would be a huge service to man (and especially women)kind for a person with Shea's large platform to FINALLY advocate the incredible effectiveness of FACIAL EXERCISES and Facial Massage. Cosmetic surgeons will never admit to their merit....or they are truly ignorant of the concept. YOU can plump your lips, lift your cheeks, erase jowls, tighten eyelid skin NATURALLY and for FREE or cheap. They should be as mainstream as the concept of body exercise....because FACIAL muscles respond to exercise in exactly the same manner as any other muscle group.

Which protocol do you follow?
@karenokeane6461
@karenokeane6461 2 ай бұрын
@@KM-vq4wg There are almost as many different protocols for Facial exercises as there are with any other form of fitness, so MY particular protocol is by NO MEANS the 'one and only'---that being said: what has (and continues) to work best for me are the routines/protocols from a tutorial site called Carolyn's Facial Fitness. I've been familiar with the concept of facial exercises since toddler hood, since my , Mom was a fitness guru and did them regularly. As an adult, I've found good moves here and there from difference sources, which has morphed into a personalized routine and the majority of them are from Carolyn's Facial Fitness. I'm NOT advertising this particular site; just hope Shea will research and share a video about how effective the practice as a whole truly is. There is far too much MIS-information about them, which is almost always perpetuated by the cosmetics industry.

Yes UNTIL they reach the point where they can’t stop and they don’t even look human anymore. It must become addictive? When I look at celebrities and they are no longer recognisable I also wonder why they don’t have people in their lives telling them they should stop. I am seriously considering Botox/filler in my elevens to try and combat my permanent resting bi$#ch face but I do worry about getting addicted to having a little tweak here and there.

Apparently there is a huge sergeancy in Vit D deficiency but we also have the world’s highest number of skin cancers. He said that everyone should be getting 15 minutes of sunlight in the morning for vit D intake.

Needlerolling does a good job, even without product. I have longer needles (1 millimeter) and it is being said, that less is more, and it's best to do it once a week, beause the micro injuries have to heal properly. For me it has really been the turnaround. After doing so about 9 months, my hairline is better and my hair is fuller. Hair loss has stopped to be a problem for me. All the thoughts about what if it's getting worse etc., all that has stopped.

I think how you show yourself to the world is your own business. Definitely there are things you can do that are natural to help prevent the signs of aging. I am not a sun worshiper and I will go out in the sun for short amounts of time, particularly to do my gardening. I turned 70 years old last November. The picture I use on KZbin is current and I have no fillers and no filters. Eat well. That means stop all the processed foods stop all of the processed drinks, soda etc. Eat foods in their natural state as much as possible, if you want to benefit the most from the vitamins and minerals. It will show on your skin. Drink your water. Yes everyone says it but keep true to drinking your water! It will definitely improve your skin. I agree with you Shea on the lip gloss or even a slight lip color. My mom always wore lipstick and I take after her. I have nice lips and nice teeth (I have paid a ton of money in dental health). Wearing a little bit of lip color brightens my face. I am fortunate to have very few gray hairs but I do get blonde highlights. Mom died at 97.5 years old and she was not 100% gray! One of the best things you can do for your looks is to smile often and carry yourself well straighten up your posture work on it. It does not come naturally but when you walk with good posture you're showing your best to the world..
