I photograph my wife's jewelry for her Etsy shop. I also sell one of a kind art supplies on Etsy. Both shops require macro photography. I also worked as a macro product photographer for a major online hobby supply. Just thought I'd add a few other ways to earn from macro.

I did a course recently with an award winning Australian landscape photographer. He had an interesting observation. There are two people who come into his studio. The first asks 'how much is that picture?', the second asks 'how much would you charge to teach me how to take pictures like you do?' Interestingly he makes 95% of his income from the second group. By way of comparison he also only sells a dozen or so prints per year (@$5k+ each) so its easy to do the maths.

Even though he is famous for his photography, I remember Don Komarechka saying a good amount of his income comes from macro videos, that he mostly sell to TV shows.

Number 5 'product photography' could be extended to many industries that manufacture small products. That trend is now at the heart of human technology so mastering macro should put you at an advantage to secure contracts vs someone who doesn't.

have you thought about putting slide shows to music as youtube videos? with your already established following a request of even a dollar per view would maybe bring in enough to support the effort. just be aware of copyright issues for the music used.

I have seen on an other youtuber channel about landscape photography that he does online sessions not only workshops. About creating a channel I guess that for most non native English speaking one of the hardest part is to be able to stay in front of a camera and also speak.

Macro is a great escape from the daily stresses as it diverts your attention to take the photo. Stock photography is not a viable option. Only if you do journalism and are able to be first to submit the photo the news papers / stock photography agents
