You are not using "Focus-Stacking" but "Focus-Bracketing". The camera can only shoot between 3 and 15 frames for "Focus-Stacking." I believe it shoots 5 frames forwards and 10 frames behind the focus point. Move the FL-700WR control down to 1/128 in M then select TTL. As you select Focus-Stacking the FL-700WR will switch to M on its display but the camera will still be controlling the flash, and adjusting for correct exposure as it does so. The entire sequence can be so fast that the flash just seems to flicker. With Focus-Bracketing the FL-700WR can hold up the camera until it has recharged, the Godox does not do that but relies in re-charging quickly enough, if it can. We can get the odd black frame because the flash missed a frame when the camera kept going before the flash was ready. A flash delay time can be set in the menu to give a flash time to recharge. The Panasonic DMW-FL580L can recharge even faster but cannot perform Focus-Stacking. I have not had the FL-700WR miss a beat on the OM-1 Mark 2 Focus-Stacking.

Which flash are you using? I find my V350 does not omit enough light for my 90mm OM macro lens.
@MicaelWidell18 сағат бұрын
For me the v350 works great. Maybe your problem is that your diffuser is not efficient enough at preserving the light and leading it to the subject.
@JemimahMaiКүн бұрын
Have you ever thought of upgrading to the OM1 Mark II? Do you use your camera for anything other than insects, such as for family pics and daily life? Om1 is on a huge sale so I'm debating between an Om1 or an OM1 Mark II
@MicaelWidell18 сағат бұрын
If your main focus is macro photography, I see no reason whatsoever in getting the mark 2. I will not upgrade since I mainly use my Om-1 for macro and closeups.

Hi it s definitely a good lens. You can find it at 300€ new and 200€ second hand which makes it a very good bargain. The equivalent sigma is 500€ second hand and gives you AF ( but in macro who cares) and a better sharpness at full aperture ( but again for macro who cares…) so my choice is done.

Hello, are you aware if there are any alternatives to the pope shield you use here? I mean for a diffuser to mount with the filter thread of the lens, I read there are many people not getting their pope shield orders or any responses at all from the guy, not sure if they are still trading or not

I don’t know of any other diffuser with the same design. But I can recommend AK diffuser which is my favorite these days

I consider myself a Photo-Documentist. I have used some of these techniques at other places other than the street. I shoot what I see and how I see it, which is mostly in color., plus multiple and longer expressive exposures. 40 years ago, I used Nikon FM2s and Kodachrome 64. Today, when I play tourist in my hometown, I use either a Nikon Zf or a Zfc. Sometimes ... quite a bit, I do real street photography by just driving around, stopping, shooting what interests me, and moving on. Just walking for exercise is boring, carrying a camera around gives me a reason to walk and look/see. Even though I am using mirrorless, digital equipment, I shoot as if still shooting film, in that I usually limit myself to a roll or two of film an outing, or 36-72 or so images and I never check to see what I have or don't have until I get home.

I've taken many shots of water at +- .30 of a second, got some great results. But have not really tried street photography with slow shutter speed but, thanks to your inspirational video, I will go out and make a concerted effort to see what I can do. I have a Lumix bridge camera so expect to capture some decent images. Thankyou for sharing your knowledge and experience, I am very happy to have discovered your photographic work.

I did enjoy this, thanks so much! I generally speaking photo things and not people and for some reason I always thought of street photography and people photography. That not correct, I realize that. The way you approach this is very much in line with my style as well.

Micael great work, demonstration of LE of street photography with practical explanation and why to use ND etc.., As usual very informative. What about focus ? as its small aperture we dont need to use any focus mode or we can use single point focus on subject ?
@MicaelWidell3 күн бұрын
Yeah you can probably just set manual focus at the hyper focal distance and get good results. I used autofocus since it is very fast and accurate on my camera.

Hi Micael...love these long photowalks and Sweden is just stunning and off course beautiful women 🤣. Btw...your not only a good macro photographer, but also a good street photographer. Would love to see some black and white pictures. Some of your photos would stand out in black and white. As for a good editing program...have you ever heard of Pixelmator Pro? Apple recently bought it and its a very good replacement of Adobe Photoshop. They have also Photomator, which is a good replacement for Lightroom and no subscription required. All the best and greetings from The Netherlands

I don't think you need a subscription to use LR for cataloging. It will ask you to log in, but will still let you use several non-developer features.

I would love for you to include really weird macro lens setups like the one where a microscope lens is adapted with an 3d-printed adapter or using a cctv lens. I personally get bored quite quickly by the "normal" 90mm focal length in macro photography an mostly do wide angle and long focal length macro photography. Also under water macro with a probe lens would be quite interesting and I would love to learn more about that. Generally, in my opinion, the more details the better

Listening to you talk about possible other editing suites. I dropped Adobe for Darktable. You will not be wasting your time in switching. Darktable has catalogue facility and really is a breeze to learn. What I always do in making my decisions is forecast how much a subscription will cost me over 10 years. Do that with Adobe and then ask yourself is that good value. Darktable - FREE

Squeze your shoulders into your chest and pan with your body when tracking. I have done long range shooting and it transfered into my photography. Can hold a 1/25 sharp photo standing using that tehnique. Not many if any photography channels talk about how to actually hold the camera and take pictures. Check out Alexey Titarenko, if you wanna see the master at what you are looking for. Greets from Slovenia.

When the weather is bad outside, I practice at home on coffee beans, camomile tea, kitchen items like Sea salt, pepper corns. Then I can get my settings programed into the camera and be ready to not waste a moment outside later because I'm ready. I'm a beginner, but my pictures are ace because I practice daily for hours. I'm 3 weeks into macro and have some cracking pics 📸
