You are the first bass teacher that I've seen that really explains the value of practicing scales in a way that opens up the tonal palette. You are an excellent instructor - thank you.

I really enjoy your method of teaching, your philosophy as to what's important, and the ability to clearly see your fingers moving over the scale practice options. Super instructive for me at this point...

Thanks for this video Anthony ! I've been practicing scales from time to time, and learnt to use sliding with some success, but making it natural and usable for an improvisation or composing seems to be a daunghting task, no matter how much time I spend. I'm still "caged" :-(

I noticed you were using a lot of ‘free’ strokes on your plucking hand when actually running through these scale ideas. Is there any particular reason for that? ... A lesson on plucking hand techniques would be great. Fabulous lesson. 😊

Honestly, it's just because my thumb is right there and depending on the nature of phrases, I use this approach. I have a few lessons on the channel talking about picking technique. Check it out!

@@AnthonyMuthurajah I totally agree, that sentence, after the little demo that you have just played, is the perfect summary of the whole video.

nice video! so are you doing this in all 12 keys?
@meatyout3 жыл бұрын
Other videos very highly suggest that the answer is "yes!". ;) Not necessarily in one practice session, at least in the beginning. As far as I'm concerned, I add another key only when I'm comfortable enough with the previous one(s). Example: C okay? --> F. F okay? --> C+F --> Bb --> C+F+Bb, etc.
