Honestly I love that I don’t have to try to be a weirdo or eccentric, it just comes naturally! As a fellow INFP once said: “I’d rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I’m not.” -Kurt Cobain

Definitely! As an INFP child I wanted nothing more than to fit in and be "normal", as I was bullied to no end and it was literally 'social suicide' to talk to me. Now with the world as it is, I am starting to feel like the 'normal one' and I gotta say.... I'm not ok with it😂😂😂

So basically INFPs have Inattentive ADHD? I used to think it was just me being an INFP, but realized I have Inattentive ADHD or ADD (outdated term) and that's why I have all these traits. I've assigned MBTI or Zodiac signs to myself, but it never helped. Finding out I was neurodivergent really changed the game for me and gave me reasons why I struggle in life so much while everyone around me succeeds. Excessive daydreaming, excessive thoughts that encroach on daily life, masking to fit in, feeling like an alien, bad memory for important things while remembering "unimportant" hyperfixations well, being clumsy or awkward, slow to open up to people because they never feel "seen" so they're scared to trust NTs. All ADHD traits.

I joined an INFJ group, but came to realise I didn't quite fit there so did the MBTI test and it came out INFP. I can relate to most points in this video except remembering movie plots, lines of dialogue. I have a hard time following plots because I get easily distracted and start daydreaming through tv dramas and films, so miss bits. I often don't remember important info. The forgetting birthdays is so spot on. I can't stand it because it looks like I don't care.

The things we are good at remembering are not wholly "unimportant." Even if they seem that way to others, they are important from our point of view because we can see connections that other people cannot. We remember those things because they help us understand things more thoroughly. Also, Idk if other INFP's do this, but I purposefully don't try very hard to memorize things that I can just as easily keep available in writing. This helps me free up more space in my conscious mind for problem solving. Why would I memorize all these birthdays if I can put them in a calendar and set reminders for myself? It would be like memorizing all the phone numbers in my phone.

As an INFP who's been around the block like 1-1/2, 1-3/4 times, lemme tell you, you belong everywhere. It doesn't matter if others think you're weird or not. It doesn't matter if you think you're weird, for that matter. I learned somewhere along the way what really matters is how comfortable you are in your own skin. Quit worrying about if you fit in or not. Let the company your in worry about that. If you're comfortable and confident in who you are, then there's not many places you can't walk in and feel like you're walking in your own home. A way to do that is not be a subject unto yourself. I took control of myself and made a "me" that I liked and wasn't always so critical of myself. Remember, not only are you master of your life, you're master of YOU.

Number 2 and 4 are so accurate. Till this day I still remember the stupid crap I did when I was a kid and literally quotes from videos and movies(holy shit how's this so accurate?). And the conversation one, if there's an intriguing or heated discussion, I'll relive that moment over and over, breaking down the nuances, the context, the "way" they said it etc... trying to justify or sometimes seeing a different angle of perspective on it. I'll be honest, sometimes I'll ponder on it throughout the whole day and in between other thoughts and it's kinda exhausting.

@@PsychologyRefresh the one is a genius and extremely introverted . A musician and a writer who can only do things his way. The other is also a great musician but he appears more adaptable and social and works in IT at a university . They are great friends and share weird humor and movies and are both very creative and technical. Both very kind and don’t like to mess with people but they hate people telling them what to do and never listen.

If society is a matrix, then infp consciously try to "fill" places or entities, that seem too empty. Most other types just exist, filling them. Then INFP cones and find the least important nail to fix everything.

I identify with all of these except for #7. I used to take a long time to open up to people, but then I went the opposite way, which is just as big a problem, if not more so. As for #1, my favorite high school French teacher used to say to me, "Lucie, vous etes toujours dans la lune!" This means literally, you are always in the moon. In English it's something like, you always have your head in the clouds. Which I did, and still do. RIP Madame Peterson ❤

Correction: INFP does not have introverted intuition (in their first 4 functions). They have Extroverted intuition and introverted sensing. So I guess over-analyzing past conversations (which does seem true) would be due to introverted sensing?

Always that awkward feeling when someone greets you excitedly and you have absolutely no clue who they are or where you met... Or like that one time at uni, where I met a guy after a course in the hallway. He was looking and smiling at me, so I introduced myself to him. And he just stared at me for a while and then said: "Yeah, we met. Just in there. We talked for 30 minutes or so?" I swear, as soon as people walk out of the door, I seem to forget their faces...

Remembering only unimportant things? That sounded bad. All we remember is important to us. I may forget some birthdays because I don't care about mine at all, just like any holidays. A flaw in school and parenting in my opinion is that people tend to want kids to be alike. And if a child is not compatible with the teaching... sorry, the teaching is incompatible(!), then problems will arise. In elementary school I was told to meet the school psychologist, because I often forgot the monthly money for eating in school and didn't really do homework. He said he's never had a patient with such good memory. He asked me to repeat random number sequences. We stopped at 6, then I had to say them in reversed order. He finally said 7 numbers but didn't wait for my response. I answered and wanted to keep going, but he told me to go back to attend class. Edit: I did enjoy the video.

Never heard before that INFP are close minded when it comes to other people's opinions or ideas. Where did you get that from? Personally I couldn't care less about someone else having different opinion than me, in fact, I even like hearing their opinions and try to understand them. After all INFP are perceiving, meaning they are adaptable and open-minded.

INFPs do not have Introverted Intuition, they have Introverted Feeling and Extraverted Intuition as strong function. Those two functions drive their brains to constantly go through conversations, how they feel about them, and what conversations could occur.
