1. WT SiB - yes please! 2. Green River 1885 - The sour mash must be the selling point on it? 3. EC Toasted Rye Twice Barreled - Wow! 4. EC Private Barrel Toasted Barrel Uncut - Wow again! 5. Calumet 18 - They're slowly creeping up on Pappy! I haven't had a chance to try any Pappy yet but I know which bars and restaurants have it in my area. 6. OGD 16 - Where has this been all my life? I love OGD 114 and the Bottled-In-Bond! 7. JD 14 - The 12 was so good I can only imagine! Too bad the flipper scum will hoard it all. 8. EHTBP Rye - This is another non-BTAC barrel proof from Buffalo Trace. It baffles me they don't give EH Taylor some recognition in the BTAC line. Not that we would see it of course. No different than all the special EH Taylor releases like the sour mash, four grain, amaranth, warehouse C tornado survivors, warehouse C, seasoned wood and 18 year marriage. My friend told me that Russell's 15 dropped today in Wisconsin and all the bottles got cleared out. They were being listed on facebook groups and forums almost immediately. Did I mention I hate bottle flipping scumbags?

So what’s the difference between the new WT private selection and the Kentucky spirit store picks that are also 101 proof?
@DPTX3 ай бұрын
WT 101 single barrel picks have been around for years, they’re called Kentucky Spirit
@thatbourbondude3 ай бұрын
You are half right. Around 1994 wild turkey didn't know what to do with all the off profile barrels that they were getting from the wild turkey 101 line and turn those into kentucky spirit. It's common knowledge that wild Turkey 101. is between 6 and 8 years old and Kentucky Spirit is 8 to 9 years old. As the sales of Kentucky's spirit continued to fall and the barrels from it become ultra Aged and we magically now have Russels 13 and 15. With the growing popularity of those products, they are going to discontinue kentucky's spirit to allocate those barrels for the russell's line.. Hopefully, all that makes sense Cheers

Truthfully, a lot of the hard to get bottles like weller. Just simply isn't worth the hunt when you have bottles like Southern Star, Larceny, Green River Wheated, and Bardstown origin Bib available. All findable and priced right.

Alright... a private barrel cask strength toasted? Now that is something we just don't see on the market. There really aren't any age stated double oaked products on the market and very very few with a proof over 100. Double oak really isn't my thing and I'm guessing it'll be excessively oaky (that's why they all proof them down). Either way I'm very curious about a 125+ proof toasted product. I'm sure someone in my weekly bottle share will eventually snag one and I'll get to sample it before buying. I'm curious but also very wary.

The DSPKY numbers can be for a bottling hall, or another non-spirit producing building involved in the process; per the state of Kentucky. The one I work at has two, one for the processing building, and one for the rick house which is technically a seperate property across the street. Source; - I work for one of Sazerac's distilleries. Edit: (More clear wording) The bottling hall can have a different DSP number, even if it's attached to the processing building on the same property. No idea why the state started doing it that way, but it's recent and probably tax or license related.

There is a massive misconception in bourbon that age = good. Most distillers actually claim bourbon peaks at 12-13 years in a barrel in the KY climate. Everything past that is just adding oak and not developing the flavor. A great example is OF Presidents Choice. Most of those are actually 9-11 year old whiskey. The problem is bourbon requiring new oak. If bourbon could go into a used oak, and if secondary finishes counted toward age, then age statements of 15-20 years would be more exceptional because you are slowing the impact of the oak. Don't assume 18 years = good. It probably = over oaked at a premium price tag.

I live in a country where you just buy whatever you want, when you want it! There are no such things as allocated bottles, bottle drops on certain days, lotteries etc, we just pay overs for all of it but you can get it whenever!
