Coach grant i love your videos and quizzes on the Insta story. Any tips for a college walkon tryout?
@firstdowntraining Жыл бұрын
Appreciate that a lot man! Thank you very much for the support on both platforms. So for the walk on tryout I would expect combine stuff- do 40yd dash, pro shuttle and broad jump/vertical jump. Then I would expect position drills and any type of routes vs. air- then I would also expect some conditioning. I’ve never personally done the walk on tryout so some places may not do conditioning but I would still make sure your cardio is on point.

When it comes to new wide receivers, is there any roadmap to what we should be learning day by day. Have been working on footwork for the past 2 weeks, mostly ladder drills and I am trying to learn route running, hip drop, releases, etc. but I am having a little trouble. Is there anything you would recommend I do to get more progression?

I don’t know if I’m within frame when I’m cutting like changing directions. But I’ve noticed I’m always on ball of foot? So I don’t think I’m reaching or is it still possible I could be? I’m rlly scared of injuring my knees so was just curious.

I think if ur able to stay on the same part of the foot while making cuts, then u don’t reach. But u should wait for what coach grant has to say

@@skan8174 preciate it that what I thought but idk. Just gotta get used to staying on ball of foot tho especially towards the end my calves legs get gassed and I end up relying on almost a whole foot touching the ground just bc of laziness ig.

If you're hitting with the ball of your foot, you should probably be good.
@firstdowntraining Жыл бұрын
I honestly don’t think you’re reaching- what could be the issue is a lack of ankle stability and leg strength. So it may feel like you’re off balance. Remember you can have your whole foot touch the ground- just not heel first. Also doing single leg exercises like split squats, single leg box jumps, pogo hops etc. can all help you improve ankle stability

@@firstdowntraining yeah preciate it for for the response. I took a video yesterday and my whole foot basically touches the ground towards the end all at the same time so basically slightly over stride. Appreciate it for the exercises.
