Follow me through a day in the life of a digital nomad and traveling entrepreneur, currently living in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Thanks to Cadu Cassau, I did this all in 1 take, 1 shot, no cuts, no edits… off the cuff, the real deal story about 8 years learning as an entrepreneur, growing a web-based business, living abroad as an expat, and slow traveling 4 continents, now with my family in tow!
HUGE THANK YOU to Cadu Cassau, my amazing and talented videographer - www.caducassau.com/
Also special thanks to the following venues and friends:

Max Johnson My original post never said I was a digital nomad. I said I was "going to go for it". That meant planning, preparation, aligning a revenue stream, etc.. Having a full-time job is very smart instead of risking it with savings and going gun-ho to a foreign land. When all those mentioned criteria have been meant, I will realize my goal. I am not in a terrible rush. I think you did not read it carefully. Indirectly you are giving me the added fuel to drive further to reach my goal. I thank you.

Nice job Cody. Appreciate the from the heart account of your time as a digital nomad. Glad to see you were able to make the lifestyle sustainable! My wife and I decided to become digital nomads in January and have been on the road since. We're still working on making things sustainable, but I'm confident we can get there :) Excellent idea for a course too. Excited to see how it works out for you!

Hey Cody, you're a great guy, would love to connect. Also, your motivational video "Live Your Life Like a Damn HERO" inspired me to travel and to become a digital nomad. I've been traveling and working from my laptop for the last 12 months and this has been the best year of my life and even more trips are coming in 2017. I remember watching the video almost every single day, reminding myself why I need to do this, why I need to step out of my comfort zone and never look back. Some of my travel stories are now turned into videos as well. Again, It would be epic to meet you somewhere, I'm moving to Thailand in 1 month from now, so perhaps it will be Asia, otherwise, you're also invited to visit me in Amsterdam, when I'm there.

of course Winn, military men tend to make some of the best entrepreneurial hustlers! You've developed some discipline. First step is to start researching about freelancing, join DNA if you need connections, support, and some foundational business help, but you've already got a marketable skill in Linux and Unix!

I assume that your wife is Thai. Does she not want an establishment western life and a western passport? I lived in Thailand where my dad was an expat. I went to international school and the tuition is not cheap. Will you send your kid to the local public school? The digital nomad lifestyle is interesting... Best wishes.

my wife is actually Filipina, so she spends the bulk of her time between Thailand and Philippines. We've got her a 10 year visa for the US and spent several months there, but we both prefer life in Southeast Asia for now. School for LittleMan will probably be some combination of simply daycare/play groups, homeschooling, and some international school. But yes, it is pricey!

@codymckibben
@codymckibben 7 жыл бұрын
Of course many of us blessed to have won the birth lottery and raised in certain "western developed" nations have many advantages (though far too many throw them away into the dumpster too!) - but if you work smart and truly commit yourself, there's very few real limitations in life other than those that are self-imposed. I do have a few Indian friends (Indian/mix if it matters to you) in my circles, and in my communities. Same with Africans, Asians, Middle Easterners, South & Central Americans, etc. etc. There is a whole world of "Third Culture Kids" too, who are often born to mixed race couples (like my son), or raised in foreign countries, etc., many of whom end up in this kind of lifestyle. There are many strange things and common ties that loop us together, while there is a majority of westerners, it's not exclusive by any means, and living in these circles has been incredibly rewarding to me because I get to interact with so many different cultures firsthand and mix up a lot of interesting influences in a very original way. If you can speak fairly fluent English (to sell to the western world; though you don't even have to), have an internet connection, the basic tools of your trade, and the drive, it's incredible what you can do actually. Just look up "geoarbitrage" and spend an afternoon thinking deeply/meditating on that. All the best Rahul
