This is so cool in a lot of parts in Mexico it’s traditional to do a “cuarentena” 40 quarantine with lots of help from other in ones postpartum time. Cool to see how cultures are similar🤗

I’m from Ethiopia in a different state we also do 40 day period of post partum care where we don’t leave the house but the village takes care of us. It’s called ulma baha ☺️

5:26 That is so cool. That the whole family is participating in the welcoming of a new born.

That is so interesting. We do that in most Latin countries too. In the DR we also do it for 40 days. Everybody helps you, they clean, do the laundry and cook for you. I also know that they do it in China. Now that societies are growing they even have a service where family members who live far away from the the couple that gives birth, actually hire a person to help the mother instead of them. In the DR the mother is encouraged to be not isolated but secluded I would say so that she can heal.

Wow this is so interesting to learn! From what I heard, back in Ethiopia Women saw it as a piece of heaven - a place to heal & bond with their new born. All of their needs for taking care of and when the came back to their homes they had a celebration for them and the new born! Awesome tradition! 💕

I just came across you channel. I'm really interested in postpartum care around the world. Is the husband allowed to see the baby? I'm in America..I feel so alone being a stay at home mom. I usually go right home from the hospital jump right back into taking care of my other babies, cooking, cleaning, washing clothes etc. I just had baby number six and very grateful my father in law have my other kids for 4days..four days of rest is a huge blessing for me!!

Congratulations on your sixth baby! What a blessing to have such a great father-in-law!! Hope you enjoy your rest days! The Ethiopian culture is allowing the new mom to have three months in a different village all filled with women who are there to help the newly mom heal her body and connect with the baby. We live in Israel so it is a bit different here because we have the Ethiopian culture mixed with the Israeli culture mixed with the English culture (my husband is English) - so my husband was allowed to see the baby and join me while I gave birth in the hospital. Before corona family was allowed to come and visit and help around the house, but because baby number two was born during corona I only had my mom and my sister to watch my older daughter while I was in the hospital. How is it being a stay at home mom with now six kids?

@@batel_isasehar That's amazing! I would love to visit Ethiopia and learn more about the healing process after birth. It's such a rushed process for most women in the U.S. That's great your mom and sister helps out!! Okay I had a home birth for the first time..it was very empowering. So far it's going smoothly with six kids. I'm staying positive praying and Daily Affirmations. I decided to focus back and refamp my youtube channel... that will help keep be busy as a stay at home mom. I've been watching your videos in my free time!! You're great at vlogging.

This is definitely not all of Ethiopia. Just the northern folks. Oromos do something entirely different. No dipping of water. Yes you are catered to for 40 days but it’s not religious based!

I’m Oromo too, and our culture is diverse depending of the regions and who we border so you can’t be sure if it’s just the north or not also maybe other northern s don’t do it this way? Also this is actually religious for some people, in Islam we have 40 days of no prayer because thats how long mothers bleeding can last. During this time we are taken care of from our community and stay home 40 days as much as we can. ❣️
