As I’ve learned with my direct drive reedjets- it’s imperative to have them running similar in output. When one engine lays down the other has to “drag” the other around. Egt skyrockets on that engine. When you nail it you’ll know ! Glad you got her out

And btw take some gear off! My go to has been 10t less when you add a second engine.

If there is too much weight at the rear can you move the engines forward a bit ? Longer chain.

My grandson was out on track with this kart last Sunday he was in his kz and was lapping a lot quicker than the twin engine. I think Hooton may be a bit twisty and tight for the twin engine maybe somewhere like Three Sisters with long straights would suit it better.

It was a shake down with a few issues on hard tyres. A lot more to come. Once sorted, KZs won't be an issue

@@AlanDoveKarting it will be interesting to see I know the 250 gearbox karts lap slower at Hooton compared to the 125 kz karts they just can’t get going. Nice to see the twin engine kart though it’s great to see something different 👍

@user-zp5yt7hj9r there was a issue that's been discovered that pegged it back a lot. The kart basically would stop 1/3 of the straight. Add in hard tyres and lap time chasing isnt the priority 250s big problem isnt same here. Won't be an issue with the twin once sorted. This isnt an off the shelf kart so these things are to be expected

Hey glen so give us a build list .and thinking about building a time attack rotax fr build any suggestions,basically a practice day kart with some extra kick

Well ultimately you can use a prokaet chassis, or any chassis that woukd support both engines. Axel will need I board keyway on both sides so might need drilling, and then double throttle cables (same as a prokart). Ultimately the best starting point will likely be a prokart rolling chassis, but will probably need different engine mounts to allow the engines to fit.

Yes. Front brakes are recommended, though, so that would be the main issue

Back around 2000 there were a couple of twin Rotax's made with prokart chassis. They added front brakes of course. Piranha did one for sure.

Well done on the engineering, I think a KZ is faster still tho !

Properly dialled in, the dual should quite solidly beat a KZ. .... 80HP at the peak and you don't have to lift off the throttle 30 times a lap. Sure the gears on the KZ keep it closer to it's 45/50HP peak, but that's as high as it gets. The powervalve on the OK gives it TONS of mid while it still has that peak around 80.

Consider a 50HP Aixro is pretty close to a KZ (assuming similar tuning and driving ability, tires etc.). Now add another 20HP+ and you have what a dialed in twin will look like. Gears help the KZ for sure, but only so much. This twin isn't anywhere near it's potential yet and the twins (X30' vs OK) I've seen on kart tracks are usually .4 to .7 faster than the best KZs depending on driver, track layout etc.
