80 lb PSE Nock On Carbon Levitate Limb Swap and Speed Test

We exchange limbs on the 2022 PSE Nock On Carbon Levitate and Speed Test it with various arrow weights.

Wow. Those numbers are impressive. Due to a shoulder injury years ago I max out at 62 lbs. It allows me to shoot as much as I want without further damage. No elk hunting, just big hogs. That build is a freaking tank, I enjoyed the video.

I made the jump to 80 this year with the Revolt x80 and my god do I love it. I shot all the other brand flagship bows in 80 and it felt the best for me. I love the tuning and flip disk features. Not to mention it comes in a little hot so I think I have mine going at 82lbs. Launches my 720 grain arrows at about 265 fps and I have not looked back since.

Just going back and forth between your two videos, the 80lb PSE Levitate was only a few FPS faster than the 80lb PSE Mach 1. That might be a good enough reason to just keep the PSE Mach 1.

That’s a tough question for sure. The E2 cams are great and as the arrows get heavier the speed drop off is consistent. That may be a benefit depending on how heavy you are wanting to go with your arrow. The draw cycle is also improved as well as the vibration and noise. The string angle is a bit better as well. The improvements are subtle, not drastic and the cost is significant $$. It really comes down to what is more important to you. I hope that helps! Thanks for asking for our opinion and support!

One of my favorite bow videos this year. Actually it was my favorite…and most informal. I have a PSE Omen 80# E2 (its kinda crazy 🤪 Also have a bowtech SR 350 (i would kill for 80 lbs limbs for that) I hoping Bowtech steps it up im the #80 department. Do you think the Mathews lift will be as efficient with heavier arrows with just the modules & not having 80lbs limbs?

On the flip side to see how much speed you can get out of 80lb limbs, do you know what poundage you can back the 80lbs down to with allotted turns of the limb bolt?

You definitely could, the question would be if you would loose efficiency or not. Some engineers have said that the bow is most efficient with the limb bolts completely tight.

Will the string and cables on a 80lbs bow stretch quicker than on a lower poundage bow? Shooting faster might be a good thing, but at what cost?

Thanks for watching! Great question, there is always a price to pay when shooting a higher poundage bow. There is definitely the possibility that you can increase wear and tear on the equipment, however most of the bows these days are engendered and tested at these specs. Most of the down side come in wear on the user, if you can’t be accurate or consistent or physically can’t pull the weight, we would never suggest you do that! How did you set your limb deflection and cam shims ?

That’s a great question. I put the limbs with the greater deflection on the right, with the highest on the top right. I set the cams as close to center as possible and used the yokes for tuning. Thanks for watching!

I will be using the new Garmin Xero Pro. Do you think this would be too much of a tank for this bow? I thought with weight down low with stabilizer and this heavy site, this would be a good way too drop the ounces with this bow.

Hey Brett, Thanks for watching this video! One of the great things about having a light bow is that you can add weight with accessories and still end up with a lighter rig than if you started with the average bow! One thing to consider with a heavier sight is it may make the bow seem “top heavy”. Set it up and see how it feels and go from there. Try different stabilizer configurations to achieve the best result. Let us know how it goes!

Hey Joseph thanks for watching! That is a great question, Josh shoots a 30 inch draw, I shoot 29-29.5 inch draw depending on the bow. We have both hunted with and shot the levitate for a couple of years now. It’s probably one of the most efficient platforms we have ever used. To answer your question, you can expect a decrease of 4-5 FPS per half inch of draw length. Thanks for the comment!

Has pse had the problems that everyone else has with limbs when they hit 80lbs they start to have limbs go bad break etc also your 649 grain arrows is only 6fps slower than my 482 grain arrow 😂 I was feeling good about my set up until I saw this… let me know if the thing about tuning a broadhead over 300fps being so much harder let me know if that’s true

Thanks for taking the time to do this comparison. Do you notice a difference in string angle between the levitate and Mach 1? I have a Mach 1 and have had issues with the cable guide moving on me and have contemplated on switching to the levitate. I’m a 30.5” draw, so the claimed angle advantage of the levitate is appealing to me. There doesn’t seem to much difference in speed or hold between the two from your reviews.

Hey Seth, thanks for watching! You have some great questions! I am currently working on a more in-depth review video for the Levitate which address some of these questions. But to answer some of your questions; first off with the string angle on the levitate is slightly better, if you look closely at the cams on the levitate they are larger this helps. Is it a huge improvement? No but it is noticeable. Second, in my experience with the Mach 1 I never had an issue with the cable guard moving, I had heard several people say they did, but it wasn’t an issue for me. I never really saw the point of making it adjustable. Third when it comes to hold and speed/performance, in my opinion the levitate holds slightly more steady, I think this is due to the wider limb pockets. The levitate has shown to be slightly more efficient with the new cam especially with the heavier arrows 575+ grains. I think that the biggest down side to upgrading to the levitate is the price, in my opinion if you have the money the improvements on levitate are worth it. The Mach 1 is still one of the best carbon bows made! Stay tuned and let us know what you think of the more in-depth review.

Thanks for tuning in! The limb adapters are the Ultra Lock Adapter made by last chance archery. They were designed for the beyond parallel limbs Hoyt used to make but I use them whenever I am pressing new limbs. I picked these up on eBay but you can get them from most archery specific dealers

Great question, depending on the total weight up front and how short you are comfortable cutting them, you should be able to get 250 spine arrows to tune. Sounds like you will have a killer setup! Good luck in the woods!!

First of all, thanks for watching! I’d like to be able to do that for you…. but my arrow setups are maxed out for my 30” dl. You’ll be moving roughly 15 fps faster at that dl. The difficulty is finding an arrow that will spine, depending on how heavy you are looking to get your arrow setup to be. I am having to use a 200 spine arrow to get them to spine appropriately… How heavy are you looking to have your arrow? I might be able to build one up and test it if I know what your looking to achieve.

I’d want to shoot arrows between 600 and 820 grains. I’m not surprised that you need to use a 200 spine. With a 75 pound bow and a 32 inch draw I also needed a 200 spine.

Great question! Initially when we were brainstorming for this build that was the plan. Much less work with strings, just slap on a set of sturdier limbs and your done. The issue was finding the wake limbs. We tried but it was just easier to scrounge up some switch weight cams.
