Gary Hersham, 70, founder of the agency Beauchamp Estates (pronounced Beecham), is the go-to agent for anyone arriving in London with tens of millions to spend and a taste for brass terrazzo and bookmatched marble. His is a world lit by chandeliers and bathed in gold leaf. One where every towel is monogrammed with the name of the house. There are wellness suites, salons, panic rooms, bulletproof wine cellars, and walls dripping with museum-worthy art.

3:52 You misremeber the segment. A polite "Don't waste your time." is the reply to the potential buyer. The shocked "within reason" was towards the interviewer. I presume she asked something obtuse, like missing the point of the role of the agent. Note that the sales dynamics is different here than it is when plebs like us sell and buy a house. Unique houses have high variance in the perceived value, so the agent tries to find the highest bidder without disclosing the bids or listing the lowest acceptable price. Once a bid is "within reason", both parties can get involved in detailed research and negotiations. Tldr, high amount of low bids, and lenghty dealings with each potential buyer.

Well for about the same cost you could move the building to a large estate in the country - plus then you'd have an empty plot in London worth $100M plus inflation.

Recession is often the result of external factors, and it appears that the United States is losing its grip as a federal reserve currency. With a decreasing ability to control inflation and a reduction in stocks and oil trading, it seems that a new multilateral world order is on the horizon.

So he says kitchen and the bathroom makes the house and then 1 minute later says that "you cant say youre buying a house because of the bedroom or the bathroom" and then says that a house could have a unique selling point like a unique swimming pool? Also all of the furniture and interior details are things that can be easily changed... for hundreds of thousands at most, not tens of millions. What cant be changed is location and size. That's literally where 90% of the cost is in these houses. He's just making it up along as he goes...

In countries where you could be lynched spontaneously at any time. It just doesn't happen in England, which is why you pay 80 million for a house instead of a throne.

@@huckleberryfinn6578 Africa has rulers that have been in power for many years, when you have money, you have power and respect, you get security and take care of people who will show you admiration. I'd rather have a Throne, word to the Royal Family.

Maybe since £80 million isn’t a lot for the house, maybe we should burn it down. After all it’s only £80 million. Practically pocket change

what a lie. London has very few states costing more than 80 mil. Billionaire through their trust/agent/capital management is also negotiating price below the asking price. only a fe of them live in such estate, most of them don't live in 100 mil estate In London.

Time for the destruction of this rotten system
@mrvk39
@mrvk39 11 ай бұрын
yeah? and how well did history of such destructions worked out for us? Russian revolution? Did it bring something better or just a sea of blood and misery for all? Or maybe China with the Cultural Revolution and 60 million killed and starved to death? Who else destroyed entire systems of capitalism and government? Maybe the Nazi Germany? Maybe Cuba? Venezuela? North Korea? Idiots always want to destroy because it's easy. They never manage to build anything worthwhile in its place though.

To be replaced by what? Rich and poor, without an envious middle full of superiority over being better that the poor, but contemptuous of the rich who they deem have too much. When all squirrels have an equal larder of acorns to overwinter on then perhaps humans will copy them. Nature isn’t that way, neither are we.

Saying 80 million isn’t much is obscenely vulgar
@patmanrick
@patmanrick 11 ай бұрын
That's not what he said though... He said it wasn't much for that house. Which is a different thing entirely. 80m is an awful lot of money, but it isn't a lot of money for lots of things. For example if you wanted to build a skyscraper in New York, or if you wanted to start an electric car company etc. etc. context is important, you're just looking to be outraged.
