There's something about the Sprite jingle that's catchy, & quite memorable to me. 🎵"I like the Sprite in you."🎵

I had that Sprite commercial on a tape (stupid VCR ate it). I've always loved that little piggy. My sister and I rarely fast-fowarded through some of these commercials on our tapes, because we loved singing along with the jingles, and this particular Sprite commercial was one of them.

Stouffer’s Lean Cuisine- Seeing the old logo for this company with the saucepan within the image at 0:03 brings back a lot of nostalgia for me. Too bad the logo nowadays is very generic with just the name. Glad Trash Bags- This concept of this commercial looks like it would make a good plot for a Horror Movie, especially with the pieces of trash coming to life and breaking out of the bag. Planters Honey Roasted Peanuts- I can totally see the “Mr. Peanut” mascot being the one selling the Peanuts at the baseball game in this commercial.

Wow, this one was really surreal to watch. I have a commercial compilation over on my channel that apparently was taken from the same broadcast. Same bumpers, same commercials (at least until the end of the broadcast), except the local ones are for NE Pennsylvania instead of California.

I've found multiple recordings of the same shows but taken from different affiliates. Sometimes there can be a lot of differences with regional specific ads and other times it can be the exact same ads.

12:00 - Platoon won Best Picture this year. It would go on to inspire a NES game, quite possibly the strangest movie licensed game ever. I imagine it came to be when someone at a board meeting said, “You know what the kids are into? Oliver Stone.”

yeah i tried looking at a wiki about mcdonald's discontinued foods and giveaways and happy meal toys history, but it needs contributors because it was not complete. maybe a complete resource like that is proprietary, and i'm just a fan and a former crew member with no plans to return or advance in the company, and i'm just browsing online out of curiousity when i discover a retro mcdonald's thing on youtube that is new to me. for example, that wiki did not include the eggs benedict McMuffin, which was a cool surprise in some other retro commercials video

Whoa! The Charmings, That's something I need to look into. Also, that Star Trek advert with TNG intro!?!
@80sCommercialVault2 ай бұрын
The music used in the commercial bumpers here is recognized as the Star Trek TNG theme to most people these days, but it originates from Star Trek: The Motion Picture. It's the main theme for that movie and was composed by Jerry Goldsmith. The theme was re-used for TNG later in 1987. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qnqYpGeGpdKBa7c

18:49 - The late great Jerry Goldsmith composed this great theme. Early Star Trek films were lucky to have composers like him and the late James Horner create some memorable themes.
@Misfit_Kitten2 ай бұрын
He also did Poltergeist's memorable theme, and many people prefer his version of the Legend soundtrack to Tangerine Dream's (personally, I like both).

What are those "trash puppets" in the Glad ad? Who needs their bags when the trash can take ITSELF out?! I also learned California has towns like "Rough & Ready" and "You Bet"!
@80sCommercialVault2 ай бұрын
A lot of the small mining towns established in the Sierras during the California Gold Rush had some colorful names. There was also Dry Diggin's, then known as Hangtown (now called Placerville). Also Yankee Jims, Mormon Island, Dog Town, Fiddletown and Condemned Bar.

@80sCommercialVault2 ай бұрын
Not enough info/context provided to make a determination like this. My guess is that if a camera crew following police during a raid or drug bust had encountered a dead body, that footage would not have made the news or been cleared by the PD for public release.
