I love M&M commercials from the 1980s; they’re always heartwarming.

8:08 - Despite the first film being Rated R, the original Police Academy found a large family audience. I even remember my parents letting me watch it with them on HBO when I was 8. The studio took notice, and that’s why the franchise became kid friendly as it went on. Same thing happened to National Lampoon’s Vacation, which was the first R-Rated film I ever saw during a sleepover.

1:57 - I had the Chip toy of these. That year, my brothers were both working at McDonald’s, so they would bring home promotional items, such as these, or a Honey, I Shrunk the Kids cup.

I remember 1989 very well. Being born in early 85 makes me happy that I remember a small part of 80s.

Golden Grahams- Judging by how his family reacts as soon as they hear him coming down the stairs for Breakfast, I would that the Golden Boy’s antics in this commercial before he sits down to Breakfast is an everyday occurrence for this family. Spaghetti Os Teddy Os- Watching the Father gradually transform into a cartoon anthropomorphic bear in this commercial is both interesting and creepy at the same time, I think. Teddy Grahams- Seeing one of the costumed Bear Characters lick his lips at 10:03 has got to be one of the weirdest things I’ve ever seen.

7:09 We had Pizza Party. Since it's basically a Memory game with a "switch with another player" mechanic, the games went by quickly. Still fun for smaller kids, though.

Lot of fun commercials plus that infamous Diff'rent Strokes episode. Have not seen Yummy Mummy cereal even when the monster cereals pop around though I have seen Fruit Broot and the new monster girl cereal with Carmelle Creep. Favorite commercial was probably the TMNT one.

According to Wikipedia, Fruity Yummy Mummy was discontinued in 1992. It was brought back briefly in 2013 but discontinued a year later.

One thing I remember about Police Academy is the PSAs they had at the end of each show -- they even had their own title cards! I remember one called, "Don't Get Burned" ... with Callahan talking about how to get out safely in the event of a fire.

Micro Machine guy sounding like an auctioneer…
@bryanloveseighties2 ай бұрын
Although he wasn't, maybe he COULD be an auctioneer. But don't forget, there were other TV credits to John Moschitta's name like the classic FedEx commercial, his one time appearance on Sesame Street and some commercials for JetBlue Airlines.

Not the bike shop episode! Anything but that! Just let me play my Gameboy with a cyborg. I want to be a Tetris champion.

Funny to see how family friendly the later Police Academy movies became! I'd never get home in time to see the animated series as it ended at 3:30 here. Bleh. That's TWO "special" episodes of Diff'rent Strokes now! They had a whole lot of them. Suck a brick indeed!

When did actual NERF guns come out? I don't recall but that blast a ball thing made me think of it.
@80sCommercialVault2 ай бұрын
The Blast-A-Ball is considered the first Nerf Gun. The Nerf Sharpshooter released in 1992 was the first to fire foam darts.

Hitstruments by Nasta-expected to see Joey going"Whoaa..." Yeah, Joey Lawrence was just short of the Blossom years in '89. It's easy to forget how much work he did before that (the year prior he voiced Oliver in Oliver & Company!).
