7. McDonald's. Tornado punch! 8. Lowenbrau. One of the best beer jingles ever, but I prefer the R&B version.

Yeah, it's a parody of what actually happened during these Olympic games. Because the countries that typically compete with the U.S. in many events boycotted the games, tons of Big Macs were given away when the U.S. won the gold in an event they otherwise wouldn't have won.

@hagiadzo Atari's biggest mistake was screwing up the deal they were negotiating with Nintendo. Throughout 1983, Atari was set to be the North American distributor of the NES system. After the rapid success of the Famicom system in Japan, Nintendo decided to handle NA distribution themselves. After that, Atari was officially toast.

Wow; I commented a couple volumes ago on how much I love that Diet Coke jingle, and here's another version of it--complete with "Weird Al" Yankovic! 1:58--Ironically, a commercial for Diet Coke's forerunner, Tab. I was wondering what was "new" about Tab in 1984? My guess is the use of aspartame (Nutra-Sweet), which was in vogue at that time. 4:00--Wrigley's has produced a lot of great commercials over the years, and this is probably my favorite ad for their Spearmint gum. 7:01--I remember that Kodak "As Time Goes By" jingle, although the specific version that sticks in my mind featured a little boy and his dog.

I like how the original 1984 MacIntosh (and IBM for that matter) were at prices in the $2500s where even the newest MacBooks and Windows computers would go about $2000 tops with avg prices still only in the hundreds. Then you also consider today's currency inflation. Incredible.

Mmmm, can't tell you the last tim I had a Lowenbrau. Kodak Disc Film...who's brilliant idea WAS that? My step-mom had one. Sure, it was hip to have one, but you only got, like, 12 exposures on the thing, it cost more to develop, and the pictures weren't any better than those 110 insta-matic cameras we'd had for 15 years. Atari 2600. :-)
