These commercials aired on FOX on December 17th, 1989
1. Mazda
2. Promo for "M*A*S*H"
3. Season's Greetings from FOX
4. "America's Most Wanted" Commercial Bumper (Brought to you by Tylenol Cold)
5. Tylenol Cold
6. Coca Cola (With Art Carney and Brian Bonsall. Holding a can of coke at a Christmas tree in salute is a pretty bizarre image...)
7. Kentucky Fried Chicken (That was very nice of the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future to bring Scrooge a bucket of fried chicken before haunting him)
8. Promo for "The Simpsons Christmas Special" (This is considered the pilot of the show, also known as "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire") and "Married With Children"
9. Citibank
10. "America's Most Wanted" Commercial Bumper
11. Nikon Teletouch 300 (It's weird ads like this that make me really miss the quirkiness and creativity of that era)
12. Bounty
13. Dristan (With Mike Ditka)
14. "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" on VHS
15. Promo for "Married With Children"
16. "America's Most Wanted" End Credits
17. Promo for "The Simpsons Christmas Special"
18. Ponderosa (Looks sort of like Sizzler but with better food)
19. Chevy Lumina
20. Promo for "M*A*S*H"
21. Promo for "The Simpsons Christmas Special" (If the next few ads seem familiar, I posted some of them from my personal tape of this Simpson's special way back in Vol. 24: • 80's Commercials Vol. 24 )
22. Happy Holidays from FOX
23. "The Simpsons Christmas Special" Commercial Bumper (Brought to you by Apple Cinnamon Cheerios and Coca Cola Classic)
24. Coca Cola Classic
25. Apple Cinnamon Cheerios
26. Burger King (With Kim Coles)
27. Levi's 501
28. Promo for "Married With Children"
29. Hills
30. Toyota Corolla
31. Vicks Formula 44
32. Lipton Family Favorites
33. Promo for "The Simpsons"
34. Rax
35. Foodland (If I have to eat grocery store brand food I'd rather just donate directly to the charity thx)
36. Foodland
37. Promo for "M*A*S*H"
38. Season's Greetings from FOX

That Who Framed Roger Rabbit commercial makes me remember how long it sometimes took for certain movies to hit home. That movie came out in June 88, and didn't hit video until well over a year later in October 89. That would be unheard of in today's day and age of media. It was kind of fun back in the day, though, the anticipation of certain movies hitting video. I remember when E.T. finally came out on video after years since its release, it was treated as a full-blown event.

The night for the show that would go on to make history. I was there watching it on WNYW in New York. Then they said it was going to be a regular series and I couldn't be more excited. The eventual series premiere, "Bart The Genius", shown on Jan 14 was to be the real premiere in September '89 but the animation was subpar so it was re-done and moved to after the Christmas special. I had no idea that was Art Carney in the Coke ad. Legendary! Although, the claymation "red eye" character was a little scary!

I've always thought that if I could go back in time as an adult, I would go in Hills again.

And I too remember the Simpsons Christmas Special very well. It was the talk of my 6th Grade classroom the day after it aired.

Oh wow, The Simpsons Christmas Special. I was 7 when it aired, still remember my mom debating if it was OK for me to watch it (it was, and my favorite joke was when Bart got the tattoo and the guy doesn't even ID him). The nostalgia! Also love how the commercial calls them TV's funniest new family, and currently they're TV's oldest.

Bart the Genius was the first episode, not The Christmas Special.

As far as Christmas Coke commercials go, a failure compared to polar bears and I'd like to teach the world to sing

I wonder if I saw this. I remember seeing the commercial for "The Simpsons" Christmas special, which predated the start of the series, but I don't know what I was watching on Fox at that time.

Awesome nostalgic holiday TV! Pretty amazing to see the start of the Simpsons and think that it's still going today. I remember eating at Ponderosa, the food was nothing special but as a kid there was a novelty to seeing all the food and picking what you wanted. I think I was more interested in the desserts than anything else. The kid in that commercial was painfully cute!

Those Seasons Greetings from FOX bumpers looked VERY 90s already for 1989...the 90s style transitioned in faster than the 70s style let go a decade earlier.

Not to get too technical but a lot of those type of graphics transitioned from being film-based traditional animation at 24fps to video-based computer animation at 30fps around this time. FOX also seemed a bit more cutting edge and creative at the time compared to other networks with their graphics, talking about stuff like 3:22.

A million years late here, but I believe the woman in the Rax @12:39 commercial is Constance Shulman, known for being the voice of Patti Mayonnaise in Doug

Also Ted McGinley played a guest part as pegs husband, Norman Jablonski ,who she would have married if Al never existed. Then he came back as Jefferson D'arcy in '91

Married With Children-the classic "Its A Wonderful Life" parody episode.. R.I.P Sam Kinison America's Most Wanted-sadly,i dont think that a lot of the criminals profiled on the show during its later run were ever captured.. Rax-i preferred Arby's back then..Rax just wasnt as good IMO

I went to Rax a lot as an Illinois teen in the 80's for cheap roast beef. According to Wikipedia, they had around 500 locations- predominantly in the Midwest- in the 80's. Today, just eight Rax restaurants remain in Ohio, where the chain originated.

I remember seeing a Rax in Columbia Heights back when I was a kid. I've never been into the place, but I do remember seeing it. After it closed down, it first became a Boston Market, and now it's a Wendy's.

They used to have them on the Ohio turnpike. My dad and I would hit them when driving across the state. It is great nostalgia for me.
