It was my first time watching your videos from start to finish, it's given me faith to work on my 80series myself, rather than a mechanic working on it for $5000. I will continue to go over watching few times before I start....cheers bro👍🏾

Thanks muchly for making these videos. My 1Fz has been torn apart for a couple years and this helps to motivate me to get my HG and timing set done after a timing chain breakage. Life got in the way, and now the 80 will get in the way of life!

@@OTRAMM Tuned in then. It'll be fun getting all the parts together after two-plus years since disassembly and a move in the interim. My engine is still in the truck, but the head is off, oil pans dropped and timing cover off. I'm to the point of sending the head off for rebuild, and then reassembly.

A Quick tip, if your vehicle is not USA market, photograph your head sensors, here in Australia, only 3+a plug, not 4 as in video, luckily a photo I took of something else captured a view of that part of the head luckily, to realise I wasn’t going crazy. But the sheds real clean and tidy now.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge with the world. It was super helpful to me. I am at the point where I'm ready to install it back in the truck. Only 2 things I'm stumped on though. (1) the ground wire that is on the lift ring, does it share the same bolt as the coil ground on the block? (2) There is a single plug on the harness that is hanging by the starter area in the video. You called it a power wire, what is it powering? Can't for the life of me find it... Thanks again bud!

One comment that may help others- after completing it started but barely idled, sounded like it was on three cylinders, smoke from tailpipe, no power to go into gear and move. I reclocked the distributor gear mesh CCW one tooth to fix it.

It's so easy to get the distributor a tooth off. I'm pretty good at getting the 1fz right the 1st try but struggle everytime on a 2f😄

Love the step by step video. Gave me the confidence to do it my self. Did the customer rebuild the bottom of engine also or just top portion, and if just the top, how many miles does this engine have. My engine has 220k and I don't want to do the top portion of it and then the bottom goes out,(pistons,rings etc...) Or should I just rebuild entire engine? Thank you
@OTRAMM
@OTRAMM 5 жыл бұрын
Glad you liked the videos. We just did the top half, went in to replace leaking valve seals and it snowballed to Cometic gasket and ARP studs. This one's got 220k so we aren't too worried about the bottom end.

What's the best way to source new hoses / tubes for all of the vacuum lines, fuel lines and smaller coolant lines that you are putting back together in this video? I want to try and replace every hose in the engine bay this summer. They're all 25 years old and starting to crack. Suggestions?

Thank u so much bro for this awesome videos about this engine Q: ihave 1fz f engine , is it exactly the same from inside Does it have chain timming belt like 1fzfe ? Or rubber one?
@OTRAMM
@OTRAMM 5 жыл бұрын
All of the 1fz engines we got here have timing chains. There are some differences between the 93-94 and 95-97 models. I'm not sure if there are differences to what the rest of the world got.

You've got me thinking about a gasket/guide seals job, maybe replace the wire harness on my 360K LX450 just because you make it look so straightforward. Just lots of little steps added together. A few questions: who makes that pair of side angle pliers shown a 14'10" in the video? Should I consider replacing all the valves during the head machining or only if one shows obvious wear on teardown? The engine runs smoothly now, just the light gray smoke on start up. I'd rather watch your videos than Nomadland or the Snyder Cut!
@OTRAMM
@OTRAMM 3 жыл бұрын
We generally don't change the valves. The machine shop we use tests them for sealing and if they pass they're left alone. We just change the valve stem seals. The only time we've had to replace or grind them is when they were shimmed wrong in the past. I've seen too issues caused by poorly done valve jobs.

I'm getting ready to start my rebuild for head gasket, but now it turns out my engine maybe hydro locked and not sure yet. I need to take spark plugs out to check. Trying to get advise and see if I should still just do head gasket or do I need to rebuild bottom half now, and what should I look for after taking heads off? Thank you
@OTRAMM
@OTRAMM 5 жыл бұрын
I've seen several come back from being hydrolocked with just a head gasket replacement. You'll just want to check that all the Pistons come up to the same top dead center height to make sure a rod didn't bend. I always send the heads out to the machinist for pressure testing and decking.

One of the things I wish I would've asked you sooner when I had the motor out and rebuilt it with your help was replaced all the vacuum hoses. So I'll ask now. What size hoses do I need to order? I want to make it all fancy and order blue hoses to match the the blue air intake hose i ordered from HPS Performance. They have a radiator and heater hose kit but no vacuum kit. They told me to measure out the vacuum hoses width and lengths to order separately.
@OTRAMM
@OTRAMM Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't use silicone for the vacuum lines. They tend to not fit well and come loose. Your best bet is factory vacuum lines from Toyota. It's hard to find the proper metric sizes in the aftermarket.
