Great Stuff good to watch. I have a 75 series Troopy with a 1HD-FT conversion. Drove to Townsville from Melbourne and back and was going like a bullet all the way until about 4,500kms into trip and all the flashing lights like yours started. Consensus is it could be the alternator plug. It looks very hard pressed up against airbox intake pipe - obviously a very tight fit. Airbox is still 75 series so might need to be changed to a custom set up to also allow room. Seeing mechanic next couple days. its a new alternator previous mechanics just put in - 150 amp and it powers two Invicta Hybrid Lithiums wire in parallel.

Trying to figure out why you took off the left front wheel other than to lower the truck ?? I bought my 94 brand new back in 94. Paid 47k US for it back then. I’ve got 255k Miles on her now. If I ever win the Lotto I’m flying to AU and loading up 4 shipping containers full of old right hand drive diesel LC’s and Toyota trucks and shipping them home 😎 Great video 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Gday mate Yes it was to lower the Rig. Makes it so much easier to reach into the engine bay. Love to 80 series mate don't think ill ever go past it. Thanks for the comment 👍

nice video mate. my alternator (1990 base model hdt converted from 1hz) is payin up after only 5 years (that OEX brand).....so looking to replace it & check plugs. if the plug/ fusible link are easy to come by/ not too expensive....it would be a good idea to replace from original eh? Could they be the cause of my problems and not the alternator? my 80 starts fine...but dash lights come on a bit & car runs a bit statically)....even though batteries ...while 3 years old....say 'green' for ok and starts fine. I will take a closer look at link/ plug 2moro....but I saw 2day that the fusible link wires all seem intact........but she has done ~850,000 klicks! Can I ask where you got plug/ link from? any old place?

p.s - im a man of Vic high country too - a mate and I travel to weird and wonderful rivers for alpine white water kayaking. our last trip was down the upper caledonia. what a place eh! 🙂
@Bush-Tv Жыл бұрын
Yeah I found my problem was the alternator that coursed the fusible link to fail, The plug on the back of the alternator had some damage, just an old plug. All the parts are pretty cheap mate, I just went down to Burson's By memory that plug was an adaptor for a Hilux so I had to cut off a plug and re solder.

Did you have any issue getting the top of the alternator in the bracket? Mine is interfering with a tab in the bracket, but I don’t wanna force anything out and break stuff! TYIA
@Bush-Tv2 жыл бұрын
Not this time but the last time by memory (years ago) I had had some issues with the top blot lining up. I think it was a bit forced in by memory
