80 + WPM - what 80wpm typing looks like monkey type

Nice! My average typing speed is about 70 - 80 wpm, and I only use (normally) 4 fingers (I use my middle finger to hit some of the keys sometimes and my thumb for the spacebar), I'm currently trying to go for an average of 90! possibly even 100 if I try enough ;D Update!: I now average 120 - 140 :D

What did you change in your typing style to improve that much and what did you do to practice? I am hovering around 65-80 depending on the amount of punctuation, which slows me down a fair amount as opposed to just words.

@@CliffArmijo I originally only used a few fingers to type but I have been recently experimenting with different typing styles, just try to find one that fits you the best, and also the typing test you are taking can help changing your WPM, I use Monkeytype, But you can use anything that works for you.

nice. i average 100 wpm barely on TypeRacer. I can get 140wpm on Nitro Type. Monkey type is not a good way to access actual typing capabilities. I use 4 fingers too (index finger for spacebar). I’ve tried touch typing (using all fingers on the middle row) and I wanna see how it would be like

I type at around 120-160 wpm and I gotta say you really make it seem effortless to type at that speed. I'm guessing that this is your current max speed but damn you've got a good method. Keep practicing reaching 140+ is gonna be easy for you

@@Bazingler dayyum, if that's true then that is insane. When I typed with my indexes ( only indexes without even the thumb for the spacebar ) I used to type at around 130-140 burst and 100 consistently

the first 120 wpm is the absolute easiest to get to, but once u try to break that consistent 130 - 140 barrier its gonna take u literal months to do it. Right now i am at a point where any test could be my first 200, and its taken me about 2 and a half years total to get here. All i gotta say is keep on grinding out monkeytype, and u will get there eventually

My friend used to be absolutely cracked at typing in 9th grade College and Career class and I think he could get like 120. I could often get around 80 but not quite his level. I am a solid typer but he is quite talented.

​@@Fady_Elgendy dw, getting to 100 wpm will feel relatively short for how long people get stuck at 120. me personally I've leveled out at around 115-120, and have been stuck there for about 2 years. stopped really trying to improve when I hit that point, as the returns diminish, but keep trying and in no time ull definitely break the 100 wpm mark.

​@@seanpe8474I've been there before. Take a couple days off and start with a different website to get used to a different algorithm. It will train your muscle memory in a different way to adapt to more situations. Then going back to monkeytype makes you way faster
