There are millions upon millions of guitar players over the last 50 years, and there are just a few names that really stick out to people... Hendrix, Van Halen, Page, Slash, Nuno, and a few more. They were responsible for creating the soundtracks of people's lives.

@@srhatfield Probably more than a few. Don't skip over guys like Brain May, or Iommi, Rhoads, the Youngs, Zappa, Gilmour, Beck, Richards, Barry, Perry, Vaughan, Clapton, King, Prince, Walsh, Gibbons, Knopfler, Young, Buckingham, Akkerman, etc. - Even if people couldn't name them, they will have heard their tunes.

I've got a Spalted Wolfgang Standard. It's a great guitar, astounding for the money. The neck is incredible. I added an EVH D-Tuna and a trem stop (needed to straighten the bridge so the d-tuna could be used more easily). I know others have added a bigger brass block and noiseless springs, but to be honest I've not felt I needed it. I would LOVE a USA or MIJ special.

Ive owned 3 EVH Wolf Indonesian standards, 3 Specials (Chinese and Mexican) and 2 USA built ones inc the black signature model. They all sound and play very similar but the USA versions build quality and feel is much better. There's a reason 🤴 Edward played the USA built ones on stage. I also own a Peavey USA wolfgang standard and a EB musicman van halen. Absolutely brilliant quality instruments. 🎸
@michaelangeloh.53832 ай бұрын
You didn't say what the reason was. If it was "Eddie played the USA ones", that's not how that works. - How do you measure "build-quality" anyway?? Because my Indonesian one is flawless.

Same here, made me feel a bit uncomfortable watching it to be honest. Awkward, stilted conversation that doesn't flow properly, and they look towards the camera whilst speaking maybe 5 times in the whole video. Not an enjoyable watch.

It comes off as a video from like 10 years ago. But they just look like they've not done this much, which I don't hold against them. - I think we're just way too used to people being comfortable on camera with all these slick and swift videos we've been getting over the last decade or so. - These are just two dudes who work at a store or whatever, so give it a break, I suppose.

I got a Wolfgang Standard, but for more like almost 500 USD or so. Other than choosing which look (and I went for the Olive Drab one, cause I had been wanting one for years and it worked on this one), I basically purchased it "blind", cause I couldn't easily try it, although I didn't just buy uninformed and I was quite convinced it would probably be good. - But as soon as I unpacked it and held it and played it, it's like I already knew the guitar. I mean, it's very comfortable in shape and design, as well as the weight (which isn't the lightest but at the same time not heavy and well-balanced in where the weight sits), and it plays very well. I didn't struggle with getting around the neck at all, it's very smooth and swift to play. It also sounds really good, very resonant, and that with a floating bridge. Though I did end up just putting it down against the body, as it has no routing for the "tail", which helps with the sound as well. You can still dive it that way, but I didn't need this guitar to have a tremolo, to be honest, it just does. - The electronics are also good, with the pickups sounding nice and crisp and "Rock 'n' Roll", though I will replace them after my own taste, not that they're bad at all, just not completely suitable for my use. As for the build-quality, there's nothing to be mentioned in terms of drawbacks. Everything looks neat and clean, from the paintjob to any detailing, down to the soldering of the electronics, although I had to fasten things like the nuts of the potentiometers and jack. I don't know if that's always the case, but it's so annoying when they're not tightened down. But it could've loosened with transport or something, who knows. But again, it looks and feels like a high quality product, but it better be at still 750 USD, which is by no means like "budget" or "entry level". It's the Standard, so it should be the "worst", which should still be good. It's just that it has a plain paintjob, no bindings, and a flat top as well. Besides that, also no stainless steel frets, which it actually could've had for the price like I've had on similarly priced guitars. But the fretwork and fretboard in general is still immaculate, nothing sharp or uneven at all and smooth to play, and that's very important on a guitar as that's where most of the playing happens. Now I do like the more exotic woods or the carved tops, but it's not worth hundreds or even thousands more to me. Especially not when it's "one of" the guitars for me. So I'm very happy with this guitar. I'm not even a Van Halen fan, although I liked Eddie, a person from my country as well. But I really like when people try to make well-designed products, that's not just for like "fans" even though it has their name on it, and that it's just a good useful product. It's a good addition to my array of "tools" at least, so that's worth something.

Not really seeing the big difference not over three thousand dollars anyway
@realtruenorth3 ай бұрын
The tremelo for sure is gonna be a difference in quality of machining and steel. Cast, stamped cheap steel vs harder machined billet pieces. The better quality ones will soak up less sustain and allow better transfer. Probably a difference in fretwork quality to.

@@realtruenorth there's no tremolo system worth the 33 hundred dollar difference unless it's of course a real gold hardware...
@realtruenorth3 ай бұрын
@@patrickshannon4516maybe a dollar isn't worth something, everyone's different. I replaced my SE stock trem with a core stock trem and the volume, dynamics and sustain increased noticeably. Is it worth the $$? That's anyone's opinion.

10:43 - I would ruin that finish so hard. I think anyone would, because that satin tends to become smoother and become slightly shiny. Like you rub it down and it becomes a spot. - I have an SG that's completely like hat, but wherever I touched it most, it just became less matte and made it look uneven. - It's OK as it's a very "raw" looking guitar anyway. It's all "relic'ed" with dents from the factory anyway (though, this was from before that was a trend and it has no scuffs in the paint, just paint over the dents and such to make it more like a "texture"), so it's fine that the paintjob is all uneven. But... if that would wear down on a guitar of 4500 USD... Hmmm... Hmmm... Even though I think guitars should just be played and worn down, it's a bit of a waste on an expensive one that looks nice.

@@roxymusicstorecould be the placement of the mic or settings. To me it’s harsh, to much high end, there is slight warble which could be to much reverb or a very slight out of tune guitar. It could even be the way KZbin compression is but I would lean towards the previous. I’m not trying to be a d or troll. I apologize if I am coming across that way. I really wanna hear thoughts and differences between the USA and import models as I have played the imports and just didn’t bond with them. Its opinion. I like how you gloss over PAge whos band Led Zep makes VH into a tiny garage band. VH had Nowhere near the success or credibility as a band as Zep. Hendrix was amazing. VH was amazing. If you lined up all the top gutars out there, EVH branded guitars are not desirable. Everyone wants a strat of Les Paul. I buy thrashed guitars and refinish them. I'll be long dead before that becomes a thing with EVH guitars.
