im having an issue with my lights not turining on/ are not pairing with the remote at all

Sorry to hear you're experiencing issues with your lights. If you haven't done so, test the remote with brand new batteries. Also, press and hold the yellow button within eight seconds of plugging in the lights. Then, unplug the lights and pair the remote again by pressing the ON/OFF button within eight seconds of plugging in the lights. The lights blink when successfully paired.
