I love Aquarian heads. Modern Vintage are my favorites too. MV thin work really well if you do a lot of brush work.

I've been playing on Aquarian drumheads for almost 25 years. I worked at a Sam Ash back then and Roy Burns himself called our store and spoke too all the drum dept reps. Sent us all heads for our own kits to demo. Told us "If I'm going to ask you to sell my product, I want you to also play and try it out". Spoke to Roy Burns on a couple of other occasions over the years. He was a great man that started a great company. Lately I play the texture coated on my rack toms and super 2 coated on my floors. And Of course a superkick

I’m a big fan of the Modern Vintage Medium 1ply heads (with the hipster coating!!) and the Force bass drum heads are my choice for all of the playing I do. What I like about Aquarian is if you need more durability from a head, and focused tone, you can get a power dot installed…on most batter heads.

It's not a genre, but rather a style and philosophy of playing music. This term is not restricted to rhythm or drumming, but on your channel I am going to interpret this as meeting you r playing in the pocket with other musicians

The Aquarian Texture Coated made my snare drum louder than an Ambassador or G1 does. Not in a good or bad way, just different. Definitely a good head.

I'm a big fan of Aquarian... I use the Jack DeJohnette heads but also the MV and TC. They are durable. easy to tune and sound great.

I put Aquarian Texture Coated heads on my snare and toms. They're easier to tune than my old Remo heads and the coating is a lot better. I have a Super Kick 1 and Regulator on my bass drum too. Really digging Aquarian and can't see myself going back to Remo.

I’ve literally had the same tom heads for like 8 years…. lol Evans Hydrologic on both toms in black and they’re still not beat, barely any parks on em. I don’t beat my toms though, I’ve switched snare heads a bit more frequently and I’ve switched bass drum head once.

I like both the tried-and-true coated heads and the hipsters. Not so much the clear heads. I always think of clear heads as being too "punchy." My exceedingly humble opinion. Either way, there really is something fun about brand new heads. They have a good crack to them as they get broken in.

The room mics did the clears no favors. I think you’re right that the MV heads were best for the combo of you and that room. Honestly you improved your camera work and lights, but the gear you’re filming (save the Meinls) are doing you no favors in a visual medium. Maybe Eric could hook you up with even a cheap PDP Concept kit, too, your gift to the practice space if that’s where you have the film. Anyhow, burying the lede…maybe I missed a few videos, but new t-shirt day too?😊

I’ve tried clear heads and I just don’t like that first hit sounds like slapping plastic , with coated even playing hard or soft you don’t get that slap sound , but I haven’t tried the modern vintage yet, my next test.. I’ve been using REMO for years but always looking for that warmer resonant sound that clears just don’t give… my opinion.
