A hair smaller than Abe Laboriel Jr's kick... A standard 22x18 is going to make the entire kit stick out four inches more and well, sometimes four inches is a lot.

What a fabulous video. Especially the head to head portion. We drummers are very fortunate to have DCoP and their excellent videos. Otherwise I know I'd never personally get to hear instruments like these made by artisans who are so incredibly passionate about their craft. Well done both Joyful Noise and DCoP!!

Beyond belief in sound, beauty and craftsmanship. I loved both kits, but that birch bass drum, holy crap! And Curt at Joyful Noise was smart enough to know that there was only one place to send his prototype kits to for presentation to the drumming world, DCP!

@marcusfinchum63223 сағат бұрын
So not only do these drums sound, look, and are built amazingly, the sound editing is TOP NOTCH. Maybe it has always been this way, but you all even take the time to move the panning of the mics to match the camera view. This is a details that most would overlook, but I LOVE that. I could only imagine the feel of hitting these drums! Very nice work DCP!!!

Superb video as always gents and congratulations to Curt for stepping back into full drum kits. Works of art. I’ve admired his work for years and own a half dozen of his snares, including the knight Hawk ferromanganese played here, though mine lacks the extra engraving and dampening device (let her ring Tony!!!). At my advancing age, I have no use for these ginormous sizes but should Curt release some in more common sizes, I may be willing to extend my planned retirement out a bit to pay for them lol.

the birch! both are awesome, but birch's cleaner tone was so nice under the mic.

Great video, as always. Liked the birch a bit more than the maple, even though my own kit is maple. That said, clicked the link for the maple kit and got this message: "We're sorry the Joyful Noise American Custom 6pc Drum Set Quilted Maple is discontinued. We've left the page up for reference only." I'm going to bet that the price was so much that you're saving us from being triggered.

It seems like he's taken all his favourite things from other companies and put them together: Noble and Cooley shells, Ludwig black beauty snares, tube lugs (or was that Leedy first?), and even a bit of Sonor ferromanganese thrown in!

@indigo495315 сағат бұрын
Maple wood being more dense tan birch I am surprised I favour the birch sound. I have heard of wood that has been submerged in freshwater and the qualities - I would like to hear them in the store. The finish on the kits is equally beautiful with amazing hardware. For special built kits I think the price is quite reasonable.
@attilahajabacs64537 сағат бұрын

@MikeP205517 сағат бұрын
Hachi-machi! They both sound extraordinary, but the quilted maple edged out the birch by a fraction. (Although the 14×10 maple sounded a little odd. Maybe it was tuned slightly differently?)
@af711914 сағат бұрын
Fantastic give me 14 of them. Really.
@Theratron19 сағат бұрын
Aaaaaand.... everything's sold out, haha 😅 I'm not surprised, they sound..... majestic. The best sounding drums I've ever heard. With the possible exception of Lignum drums in Belgium (they also do steam-bent solid ply drums) and the Stone drum company in Luxembourg. My vote here would go for the set-up of the maple kit, but I slightly prefered the sound of the Birch shells.
