THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO!!!! I Would not have been able to fix the EXACT ISSUE…(S) basturds… Yeah, brand new, Choke inoperative… OVERVOLTAGE… with nothing plugged in. Found yet ANOTHER connector behind the panel unplugged… Unreal…. Tried calling customer service and got a SMARTASS lady that told me she was just an answering service. Told her I’ll let Cummins know this when I call them on Monday. Again lucky I’m half way good at working on stuff. Fixed the issues myself, BUT ONLY BY YOUR HELP… THANK YOU!!! I can’t believe only 500 people have watched your video. My local Camper place has sold a lot of these. I ordered mine 3 months ago. I’m going to stop in and see how the ‘sales’ have been. @@805ROADKING You said the generator was only 120v and Mike also said the plug was 120v 20A twist lock. You say it would run the washer and dryer? Washer maybe but not the dryer. Unless yours is different they take 220v. Also do you have a gas stove? An electric stove it's going to require 220v. Something doesn't make sense here. In any case nice installation. Well done on the fix. Too bad they haven't fixed that problem in three or four years.

A note to Westinghouse about my iGen4500 junk. Bought this boat anchor new about the date I mentioned above. Choke problems right out of the box in that is was sticking closed. Called support and was sent a replacement choke control. Installed it and seemed to fix the problem until two days later I have the same problem again. Called support again and was told to take it to a service center...............TAKE MY BRAND NEW MACHINE TO GET FIXED!! Gimme a break! I took it upon myself since at this point to find the problem myself and when I took it further apart I found a connector that was not locked together when it was built. I locked the connector together and that fixed the problem. Jump ahead to day before yesterday. The genny ran all day while being used intermittently and it was perfect. The next day, or yesterday, hit the start button and it started immediately and just as quick shut down. Tried several times with the same results. So this morning I took it apart enough to determine that the choke was still working properly, and it is. I checked the fresh oil, it is perfect. Full of fresh fuel, nothing I can see wrong. I called support again and talked with some idiot named Jaffe the quickly started fallowing a script when I told him the story. He asked "How many times have you changed the oil?" I told him I've changed it once.............the thing only has about 15 hrs or so on it. He said "According to the manual, you should have changed it twice by now." I replied IT ONLY HAS 15 HOURS ON IT AND IT HAVE ALWAYS BEEN STORED AT ROOM TEMPS. I went on to tell him that as long as it ifs full of oil it doesn't know the difference between oil with 1 hr or 1000 hrs, that will not shut it down. He said, "Sir, I'm just telling you what the manual says." Then this incompetent moron asked me what kind of fuel is in it right now and I told him it was high octane, no alcohol canned fuel like we use it all our small engines. He asked "Did you drain the old fuel out before putting new fuel in?" I replied that the previous fuel wasn't in it very long and besides, that last time I used it I purposely ran it out of fuel. He asked "Did you drain the carburetor bowl?" I said no..........that's why I ran it out of fuel. When it stops because of lack of fuel, the bowl is dry. He then told me that there will still be fuel in the bowl at that point, so you are incorrect. I let him know that I've been a gas/diesel tech for 35 years and this clown told me that cars and generators are different! I still have a junk $800 piece of crap that I cannot depend on. I got of the phone with this person that has NO idea what he is talking about and messed with it a bit longer and noticed that right after it starts, the overload indicator comes on and it then shuts down. I didn't notice that before. Not to mention that I did not get the mickey mouse charger for it when it was new and have since had to replace the battery because I could not charge it and this thing does not charge it's own battery?? How stupid. I emailed about that and was asked my reply email to provide proof of purchase and a picture of the serial number. Really? I did it anyway and emailed it all in and have gotten zero response on that issue. I bought a small trickle maintainer for the new battery. This idiot "Jaffe" that I spoke with made no attempt to help me diagnose my problem, just read a script and told me I was incorrect about how a carb works. What are the qualifications for his job anyway?? This thing has been a thorn in my side since day one and you so called support department is incompetent if "Jaffe" is representative of it. My opening line of this note is not entirely accurate, this thing is not big enough to anchor my boat and it's too big to go in the trash can, so I don't know what to do with it.

Properly cared for and broken in these units can last for several thousand hours. Food trucks use various Honda inverter clones and really rack up the hours. I believe this is a close cousin to the Predator 3,500 but yours has more features like the fuel shutoff & remote start. Modern inverter gensets are quiet, fuel efficient, and put out clean, well-regulated power. What's missing is the fascination of seeing old iron performing it's 1800 rpm magic behind an antique diesel engine. I'm on the west coast (Los Angeles) and I'm always on the lookout for antique engines/generators/tools. Some interesting finds at estate sales from time to time. Never know what someone has tucked inside a messy garage their next of kin needs to get rid of.

Your must have a small house. We have TWO breaker panels in the houee + one outside! We have 350A service (one 200A and one 150A main breaker). The 150A breaker feeds a small panel which feeds the irrigation pump, and a transfer switch panel in the garage that powers about 1/2 the circuits in the house (kitchen minus the stove, lights and many of the 120 volt outlets. The 200A panel feeds the kitchen stove, the washer, dryer, hot water tank, A/C units, and the rest of the lights and outlets. The transfer panel is a Generac unit, connected to the propane back up unit outside. We now also have solar panels and a backup battery charged by the solar (similar to, but NOT a TESLA power wall). I've never seen a transfer panel like yours before. That's a nice idea individual transfer switches rather than one big ass one + circuit breakers. Most manual transfer switches use TWO DPST switches interlocked so only one can be ON at a time. But I've also never seen DPDT breaker switches either. (Are any of those 240 volt?) That plug in the generator looks like a NEMA 3-30 or 4-30 twist lock (30A).

Thanks for the video. I got a chance to test mine out for real two days ago -- California is having the rolling blackouts during the heat wave we're having/ It started right up. Then I flipped my transfer switches on and that was it. I have it like you do -- all 120 volt, no 220. So I dont have ac or hot water or the cooktop/oven. To power those things I'd need a lot bigger generator and burn more gas and noisier. (I don;t have natural gas or propane so I can't do a genset like the Generac).

Good reason for the panel is to prevent back powering the line coming from the power company. The heavy hitters on 120 volt systems would be items with a motor or a heat strip. Refrigerators, vacuum cleaners, washing machines are in this class. To see what you need, multiply 120 X the amps to get watts. Ie., Fridge might be 7 amps times 120 volts = 840 watts. Add up all your heavy hitters and subtract from your genset Max watts to get an idea of what to buy. Just don't run everything at once if you get close to the rated watts.

I have a 2500W 240V pure sine wave inverter, several deep cycle batteries, only one solar panel at the moment. Generator has a battery charge output that I plan on connecting to my inverter batteries, so anything on the inverter will still be powered when the generator is running without having to switch their mains to the generator. Lights and a couple of computers on the inverter, everything else on the generator. It'll probably take me another year or so before I get to this, too many other things to do.

The styrofoam was all cracked up inside but the inverter looks good. God only knows how many times the morons dropped it before the idiot that delivered it to me. I JUST CAME ACROSS YOUR CHANNEL!!! maybe you can help me. I bought the same generator but duel fuel model and wanted it to connect to my house. I called a local licensed electrician to get this hooked up. So as he asking me questions we got to the outlet types on the generator and when I told him it only had 2 110v 20amp standard outlets and 1 110v 30amp rv plug. He then said "there's no 220v twist lock'" i told him no,and I don't use any 220v in my house. He then told me it doesn't matter if I don't use 220v the generator has to have a 220v outlet to power the 2 sides of my box. I then explained ive seen I couple of videos where people cut the end off a extension cord and wired on a 220v twist lock by jumping 1 hot into both hot legs just to get power to both sides of my box. Again I knew it wouldn't make 220v's but it would make 110v's on both sides of the panel. Could you possibly explain how you got this done or would your electrician friend Mike be open to chatting with me. Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!! AND YES ...... Switch it to C SCALE ... You are missing all of the lower FREQ's on A Scale . The A-weighted sound level discriminates against low frequencies, in a manner similar to the response of the ear. In this setting, the meter primarily measures in the 500 to 10,000 Hz range. It is the weighting scale most commonly used for OSHA and DEQ regulatory measurements. The C-weighted sound level does not discriminate against low frequencies and measures uniformly over the frequency range of 30 to 10,000 Hz. This weighting scale is useful for monitoring sources such as engines, explosions, and machinery. The sound levels measured with these two weightings have units of “dBA” and “dBC”, respectively.

Hi 805Roadking - I've wondered about that generator. Are you happy with it other than the choke issue? Is it pretty quiet? We found your channel from the comment you left on another page. We'd really appreciate if you'd give our channel a look if you're not already following us and have a minute. Thanks in advance!

Yeah once we fixed the choke it's been running well!! Had to use it twice in the past 3 months about 8 hrs each time!!☺

It would be better to make it so the generator turns on automatically when voltage on the mains is below 100V or above 120V to secure appliances from overvoltage as well as automatic backup power if blackout happens. It still can't secure your computer in case of a black out, too slow.

Still may get my mother one of these when I can afford it But what a hassle to make something work that should have worked to begin with

These seem to be sold out everywhere. If anyone finds a source where they're being sold I'd love to know.

Sweet video and nice that it wasn’t too complicated. Hopefully that’ll help others out. Also, Roadking is there a way to get in contact with you via email?

I'm used to these problems on random crap around the house but not something that should be actually reliable! Dangit. Such a silly thing to need to deal with, a connection at fault!

I'm just glad it was an easy fix!! Wasn't to happy about having to work on it after spending a grand on it!!☺

Did u ever get it fixed mine has roughly 50 hours and just quit running and the choke is working also

Excuse me please, this is brand new and already having problems? They should give you a brand new one. I hear it's supposed to be an awesome generator. It seems better than the Champion 3500 dual fuel and that other brand 4500 watt dual fuel I just don't remember it's name.

Damn blue tooth connections.!

WTF Mate!! Another inch of wire would have remedied that situation!! It must be cheaper to pay a serviceman a couple hours for the warranty!!☺
@twocvbloke4 жыл бұрын
They need to use hot snot on the connector, not blue schmoo... :P
@805ROADKING4 жыл бұрын
That's the same thing I was thinking Mate!! Than again if they made those wires another inch longer there wouldn't be a problem!!☺
@paulsylvester13944 жыл бұрын
I disagree! Glue is not the answer. That connector was not properly seated at the factory. The blue marker is just that, a marker to show the connection was made. Longer wires would help. It is hard to make things foolproof because fools are so ingenious! And lazy! Poor workmanship!

There's always that one %$&#! screw....The Amazon driver dropped my brand new Porta-cool shop cooler off the ramp right in front of me. I couldn't believe it.

I have security camera footage of a UPS driver just tossing a package onto my porch with no care in the world. And our local post office carrier acts like she's in a Nascar race, runs the package to my door, then runs back to her delivery vehicle.

I’m disappointed. 4reasons: 1. A unit approaching 5kwh peak output should hv a 240/250V output. It’s the best way2 energize both sides of a hm breaker box. 2. She is noisy. 3. No fuel injection. 4. No Bluetooth app control.
