Matt is out to prove a point and the JB74 Jimny has performed very well. We have now lifted the Car 80mm and functionally OffRoad the car is brilliant. Kosta from Tough Dog tells us why 🤔

I had pretty much the same setup as you for a long time, will go anywhere like that but I have taken it another level this year with a rear locker, 7/77 gear reduction and have just ordered a sway bar with disconnect. Such a fun little car and by comparison to bigger builds I have found that its very cheap to mod and work on.

After getting my Y62 modified to over 4T gvm with long range fuel tank, rear bar, billet rear control arms etc, it's touring capability has increased but off-road it can not beat light weight Jimney. I am actually thinking of dragging this behind my Y62 while touring. Should be better than those expensive trailers

Not sure I agree with the guff on first time 4x4 owners should only buy the 40mm. It all comes down to what you want to achieve and spend. It would however have been much more useful to know what the shock lengths are open/closed and total amount of wheel travel between the kits. I’m guessing that there aren’t revised upper shock mounts. So is suspension compression limited and restricted with extended bump stops? Is anything done to address the changes in caster or wide angle propshafts?

Nice video . What size tyres are these ? Also I couldnt hear the conversation too well about the toughdog panhard rod and the front steering stabilizer because of the fork lifts in the background . Did he say the setup wasnt for tarmac ?

How about the legality? Not a single mention of the 60mm or 80mm being pretty much illegal in every state in Aus.(except NT I think?) without the car being fully engineered. If you're selling parts to people that render their vehicle illegal (not to mention uninsurable) then you should probably inform people first.

That’s a fair call. I’ll make sure we have a disclaimer in the product description

Or people should just do their own research ? Surely you don’t expect a window tint roll to have a disclaimer on it

Just wondering how about the drive shaft angle and length? Any issue driving on road? Steering wobbles etc?
@DASHOffRoad Жыл бұрын
It’s live axel so not really an issue for drive shafts. I must admit, Jimmy’s aren’t great on road driving
@300bhpton Жыл бұрын
Suspect they may have meant prop shaft. Which certainly could be an issue along with diff nose angle and camber.

Only your body has more clearance, hasn't it. Your diffs are at the original height. Or did I miss something ?
@DASHOffRoad2 жыл бұрын
Bigger tyres increase diff clearance 👌

Stock comes with 195/80/15 and current one is 235/75/15 . Now multiply 195*80% as well as 235*75% . The difference of both will be difference in ride height even for diffs. Bigger tyres can bring a change there .
@pim123411 ай бұрын
@@BloodySweetBadass LOL, I alway thought the 75 was the tyre height ....
@BloodySweetBadass11 ай бұрын
@@pim1234 not height actually , it's tyre profile . For example 235/75/15 means tyre side profile will be 75% of 235. And 195/80/15 means it's 80% of 195 . 15 is the diameter of tyre( alloy size) in inches
