You never realize how much you'll miss commercials for the most mundane stuff...women's shoes for instance...until you look back at them like this and realize how much they are a product of their time. They way they're shot, edited, the MUSIC they use...I'd prefer 10 drain cleaner commercials from the 80s over one modern ANYTHING commercial, cause they're an instant time machine. Thanks to 80sCommercialVault for being the pilot.

I never watched Small Wonder, but me and my sister would watch "Saved By The Bell" and "Out Of This World" in the afternoons on KTVU beginning probably around 1991.

I agree completely about the Twizzlers mouths. As soon as I saw that, I flashed back to this crazy show I used to watch all the time called "Puttin on the HIts". The beginning featured all these disembodied lips, and it was one of the most frightening things I have ever seen. That, and Alan Fawcett's permullet.

Hmm, the only truly scary Tim Curry thing I can think of is his Tour de Force musical number in "The Worst Witch".

20. Skyhawk. He's the love child of Al Bundy and Super Dave Osborne. 24. Loved Newhart. It even had a lovely theme song. R.I.P.- Macho Man, Ultimate Warrior, Big John Studd.

I was basically forced to watch it, since my older sister had reign over the family room TV in those days. Each episode had the kids face some sort of horrible, depressing problem and learning some sort of lesson. Lessons aside, some of the issues tackled just seem incredibly intense and messed up for a kids show. The episode with the giant spider, "Perils Of Punky" is on youtube. It's seriously like highly concentrated nightmare fuel. +Recommended

I don't think anyone died on Skyhawk...Willard's Whizzer, Logger's Run, Yankee Clipper, Flight Deck, Drop Zone and Boomerang Bay are the only rides that have had deaths or serious injuries that I am aware of.

I think KTVU at this time did not have FOX programming 7 nights a week. Do you know when exactly when KTVU started to have FOX programming on all nights?

Don't get me started on the Dead Wrestlers Society, but I miss the theatrics, back stories, and even the entrance themes of the 80's Superstars. Luke and Butch vs. Ramon and Jacque! One-Man Gang is now Akeem! Ultimate Warrior is my all-time favorite.

I sent a picture I drew to soleil Moon Frye and she sent me an autographed pic. Not stamped it was definitely really written on with sharpie. I thought I was the shit! I thin it was 1987

I just figured people freaked out because of the black "Jesus" guy, the cross burnings, the fact that Madonna kisses the black guy (OMG, right?), and the overall "Catholic" overtone. LOL, if there's more, I'm dying to know! :D

As someone who only started watching WWE in June 2015, the only names I recognize in that commercial are Randy Savage and Ultimate Warrior, both of whom are, sadly, now deceased. And it's a shame, because we could really use some new Slim Jim commercials with a professional wrestler. Ooh, I know! Who better than New Day?

Hell Mike, WGN America is airing it every Sunday Night on Outta Sight Retro Night. Also you can watch it online. WGN aired it before Nick at Nite did ya know.

Don't know about Skyhawk at Great America, but a ride exactly like it, at Knotts Berry Farm in Buena Park, had a kid fall out of it not a week after I was on it.

2:45--Although I was born in 1971, I love 60's music and was tickled to hear Bobby Lewis' "Tossin' and Turnin' All Night" in the Ortho mattress commercial! I'm not familiar with that brand of mattress, but I'm a gardener, so I am very familiar with the Ortho brand of garden chemicals. 9:20--Antenna TV reran "Newhart" a few years back, and Me TV simultaneously ran the original "Bob Newhart Show." Neither show is currently on those channels' schedules; I hope they put them back on at some point.

Around the mid 90s, that NyQuil lady (or someone similar sounding) would return for a new set of ads with that same "wounded eagle" sound at the end!

For whatever reason, that Twizzlers ad was imprinted on my memory. I never did like the stuff (they tasted like slightly flavored plastic). I don't know if they have Dairy Queens on the west coast, but if you don't like disembodied lips, I'd avoid seeing their commercials. The reason that Grape-Nuts box was so tiny? It's because when you take your first bite and realize it's perhaps the worst cereal you've ever had, you won't have to waste as much.

3:45--Geez; am I the only person on these threads who likes Grape-Nuts? When I was growing up, we always had Grape-Nuts on hand because it was the one cereal that everyone in my immediate family liked.

0:04--The Frosted Flakes commercial is the one I remember best from this volume also. It must have aired on "grown-up" TV also, because in 1989 I was 18 years old and had outgrown "kiddie" shows.
