The beginning rice krispies ad, I've never seen a kid so happy eating cereal. I bet the directer kept yelling, 'BE HAPPIER, ACT LIKE THE CEREAL IS LIFE'!!!

Its amazing to look back and notice how much music was a part of EVERYTHING. Even some of the most mundane everyday items had an entire orchestrated song and dance number attatched to it, everything had its own theme. Even deoderant had its own devoted 30 second jingle. Never noticed it growing up, but its so obvious now why Gen X was so obsessed with music. It was in everything, all around us, all the time. Wow.

I was just telling my son this when he asked how it was for me growing up in the 80’s. Music was everywhere. We were the generation of Friday Night Videos/MTV. Music was everywhere. Even in the commercials. 🎼🎸🎹🎧

Music was also a part of my Generation as well. The 90s and the early 2000s had a lot of music right next to Animated series. If your child is in their early to middle 20's they'll understand.

I still get the monster cereals every October. I would literally save my allowance and do extra chores for money just to get the cereals. And for a treat my mom would always buy extra boxes for me after Halloween when they’d go on sale. It’s my treat to myself that’s remained consistent throughout my childhood and into adulthood.

I had an Etch-A-Sketch Animator but at no time was I as goofy as the kid as at 1:24! Rio Blast is pretty badass! Legions of Power was just as motorized as Capsela but they didn't go on and on about it! Cool to see the Galaxy Rangers end credits but I remember the "Rangers Are Forever" end theme better. It was on at 4:30 on WPIX in New York!

Galaxy Rangers-why oh way hasnt there been a live action adaptation of this..(for some reason im picturing Jason Statham as Shane,Jamie Foxx as Doc,Sophie Turner as Nico and Nicolaj Coster-Waldau as Zach Fox Count Chocula/Frankenberry-nowadays those cereals taste like theyre made with wax lips :( Legions Of Power-liked that early CGI in both these ads and on Galaxy Rangers Capsela-we heard you the first time Bravestarr-that episode"The Price" is forever etched into my memory Transformers Sharktacons-glad that these guys were left untouched by the M.Bay films

Galaxy Rangers, He-Man's Deputy Rio Blast, and Bravestarr...I guess 1986 was the year of the Sci-Fi Cowboys. Still, the Galaxy Rangers had amazing music for an 80s cartoon, as evidenced at 17:17. Although personally, I preferred the other ending theme from the show, Rangers Are Forever. kzbin.info/www/bejne/f6e6pXxqg7-diqs

@andrejg4136

A lot of it has to do with how easy money was to get as a toy company. Now you have to compete with Internet videos, video games, etc. If you want a hit toy, it needs to integrate with other media formats to keep kids engaged or they will just drift off to the other dozen things they can do when not at school.

The tape these are from had multiple episodes of Galaxy Rangers recorded over several days, possibly even several weeks. I've kind of given up trying to accurately date such recordings like this, but the "An American Tail" ads do give a general timeframe of mid-late November.

I have some of those WWF Wrestling Superstars figures. The commercial shows the boys playing with them, but they're really not that good for playing with, being that their heads, arms and legs don't move and they're just stuck in whatever pose they were designed with. Those figures are more for standing up and putting on display than anything else. Bad move on the part of LJN for making them without any moving body parts, but hey, what do you expect from a bunch of Laughin' Jokin' Numbnuts?
@80sCommercialVault

That's pretty weird that they were just statues with no articulation...even the Starting Lineup figures that Kenner made back then had movement at the arms and neck.
