Best guitarist of the 80's (also on Magazine's first two records that came out in 1978 and 1979, and their third and last "The Correct Use of Soap" was released in 1980). John McGeoch was the best and most inventive of his time. Influenced the likes of Johnny Marr, Steve Albini, Jonny Greenwood and even John Frusciante. RIP John McGeoch

@@MattiasSvanberg1987 Definitely one of my favorite guitarists. I love many others for similar and different reasons but, he is certainly one of the best. I love his work with Magazine, P.I.L, The Armoury Show, Visage but, especially with Siouxsie & The Banshees. The work he did there is iconic to me. Very sad that he is very underrated and all too often overlooked and forgotten by the guitar community when they go through their "best guitarists" lists. Hopefully the new planned biopic about his life will shine a much deserved spotlight on him and his legacy in the proper manner it deserves....

One of the greatest songs ever written. Richard Jobson if you’re reading this, you gotta play this live. One of the most brilliant songs I’ve heard in my life! ❤

Such a big powerful sound, reminds me of Simple Minds meets a stadium rock version of Echo and the Bunnymen.

It definitely has the deceptive simplicity of the Bunnymen, along with a hint of the anthemic quality of Simple Minds.

I'd never heard of these until I walked into Penny Lane Records in Chester. I got on well with one of the staff in there and asked him what was new. He played this and I was hooked. Waiting for the Floods was an amazing album and the 12 inch extended versions were excellent.

I've been playing guitar sonce 1988 and when people ask me my main influences, I always get a weird look when I say "John McGeoch and it's such a shame. He was such a MONSTER guitar player and people don't realize it because he served the song and not his ego.

One of the 'benefits' of being confined to the house at the moment, is finally getting around to cleaning up the garage, where I found some old local music shows on VHS tape. One song that I had long forgotten was Love in Anger, which has a great accompanying video, and now I find that it isn't on KZbin. I want to throw out the old tape, but it would be a shame to lose this one song. Any bright ideas appreciated.
