I was hesitant to even include the fawn incident in the video, I knew there would be 50 comments telling us what we "should" have done, or "should" not not have done. All that really matters is I didn't hit it with the tractor and it's fine with its mother.

Hello Morgan family wonderful job you guys do a great job and with class. I'm down in NC I have a Kubota HST 5740 it a older tractor than yours it has wheel weights and a fairly heavy yard tool with some weight add to it. It will pick up a little over 2000 lbs depending on weight distribution meaning the more I can curl the forks back and get the weight back as far as possible closer to the front end of tractor makes moving heavy loads more stable. Keep the load close to the ground of course. If you ever get a chance you should tryout one of the Kubota mini excavators. The 057 is smooth strong and fast. Get the cab yellow jackets want bother you but you can sure make them mad. Be safe continue doing what you do.

I came home from work one day, and as I rounded the corner on my road approaching the house I noticed a large deer running frantically up the hill to the fence and back and I knew right away by her actions, something was wrong. As I rounded the corner I had to hit the brakes, and there in front of me, laying in the middle of the road, was a fawn that had collapsed to exhaustion ( by their size I estimate maybe 5 to 8 hours old) I got out of my truck and the mother went crazy to say the least. I put my gloves on and grabbed a sheet from behind the seat and placed it over the fawn ( to stop the crying...lol) and picked it up. I carried it up the hill and put it by the fence where the mom would see it. As I walked back to my truck....DANG...there , under the barb wire fence is another one...She had twins. Ding, Ding..round two. I did the same thing as I had done for the first one and went up the hill. Both babies side by side and the mom 50 feet away watching me, called out and as I walked away they slowly crawled under the fence and mom and babies reunited. Saw them later on on walking around the yard and all the cats wondering who these critters were that were trespassing...lol. Happy ending...and they hung around for a while after word then left to continue their journey. Later in the fall guess who returned for a drink of water...yup Mom and her now teenager twins. Country living...I wouldn't change this life style for the world.

Let me tell you a story about new borne.........in about 1968 I lived in Richmond Va. a mechanic of ours bought an old rundown farm West of there and gave the wife and I permission to hunt it. Chained correctly that there were about 2 or 3 big coveys of quail on the farm. There were! One Saturday as we finished up a beautiful hunt we heard the mooing of a cow from the adjacent farm. It was persistent so wifey and I went over the fence to investigate. There was a newborn calf and a momma cow bawling her head off. That ended the hunt. We packed up and drove out stopping at the farmhouse belonging to the pasture. No body home.. we looked in the barn and saw a stall with about 6 new calves under a heat Lamp. That did it......down across the field, in the station wagon, picked up the calf, and brought it up to the barn and put it in with the other calves. It was cold, Oct or Nov, if I remember right. The next weekend we came back out to the farm for a last of the season hunt.. we stopped at the farm house...the farmer was home and explained that we did the right thing. He told us he and his wife had been to an auction and upon getting back home he had gone straight to the barn to check on the new calves. He had not seen the note we had left on his back door. He said he counted those calves about 10 times. He said the calf could have died from the cold that night. I. Will never forget that event. Talk about memories !!!!!!!!!!! JoeB .

There is a mechanism that can be installed on equipment indicating the weight of the load lifted by the machine. I know the heavy equipment operators, i.e. recovery vehicles use them all the time. I am certain there is a scale for tractors, too. I just thought I would mention it. For safety reasons, it would be beneficial to know the weight of cargo lifted via tractors and hauled by trailers. Thanks, Morgans; the fawn will be ok.

love brush hogging. I have some fields to cut now but I just found a fawn this year beside one of our hay fields I was raking. I did get a good video and pics of it. But, now I am thinking on waiting another month before I cut my fields where I don't make hay. So I don't accidentally run over a fawn or turkey nest. I am local... so, I may see you Saturday if time allows.

Glad to see the fawn also be very careful as many does have two or more fawns and they may or may not be right together. Laying still is a natural instinct as they have little or no odor a predator has to just find them like you did. Gotta give the Kubota credit it is a workhorse.

When field mowing in high grass and making silage this time of year I use a bar across 10 feet in front of front mower with hanging small weights (PET bottles with a little bit gravel in them) in light chains who frighten the fawns away from the coming threat. Works great because I can't so easily see them 6 yards in front of tractor!

Is that a modern version of stars and bars one of your labs is wearing as a neckerchief? Glad you included the fawn story. We live in the country where fawns are left for the day by their moms all the time. I have been startled many times, including last week, when I was mowing and got within about one foot of a fawn who was so well camouflaged I did not see her. She was fine and her mom found her about an hour later.

By the look of that log 1 1/2 ton is about right. My Dad was a logger and He taught Me to always move at a 45 degree angle away from the tree after it dtarts to fall. That way if the tree butt comes back off the stump due to getting hung up it cant hit you helps avoid limb backlash also, plus never turn your back on a tree till its down
