Great car. I worked at a Chevy store when they rolled out the SS. We didnt get too many, and they all came loaded in either auto or stick. Sticker price was around $50k, but Chevy did some 20% off promos so you could get one for $40k, an absolute steal for a car that could eat BMWs and the like for lunch, and had better tech besides. @C.Fecteau-AU-MJ133 жыл бұрын
@@wadebradley7388 Cheers man, we really did have some great engineers and a great culture until we got totally screwed out of it. I mean, you wouldn't have the C8 Corvette or the current Camaro if not for the VE Commodore platform... Which the Victorian tax payers paid for developing AND the tooling to export the Caprice in LHD for the cops. The mid engine vette wouldn't have been plausible if they didn't use the VE. I'm not bitter about it or anything... OK maybe a little. We deserve a C8 and Camaro with the steering wheel on the correct side of the car that isn't three times the price. Seems like a small consolation
@wadebradley73883 жыл бұрын
@@C.Fecteau-AU-MJ13 I agree brother. I did mention what you just said about the Camaro in another reply to this vid. I said we wouldn't have the Camaro if it weren't for the platform the GTO came on. I suddenly can't recall the name you guys had for the GTO. But we still love the GTO, I live in Macon Georgia, about 80 miles south of Atlanta. And there's plenty of GTOs here in my city I saw one yesterday, actually heard it first. You can't mistake the sound of a LS with a stick behind it slowing to a stop. It's a head turner. Lol. Can I ask what happened, did the Holden plant close or something, seems I remember reading something like that. But I'm 55 and my memory isn't what it was. But definitely we have you guys to thank for ALL of our latest performance cars. Holden and it's incredible engineers have made it easy for a platform or a finished car to come over here with a slightly different nose and rebadged as a bowtie. Wod you please tell me more about the police car you guys developed and what it has to do with the current Corvette. That sounds like an amazing history lesson for all of us. We know you guys down under LOVE your V8 supercars. I watch the Australian V8 Supercar championship every time it comes on. So I can see Australian/American V8 cars compete against Europe's finest. It's a great series! I must say brother, were incredibly sorry for what our "appointed" president has done. We are so so thankful NOONE thus far has blamed us personally. Hopefully enough states have passed laws to prevent what happened in 2020 won't happen again. Just the other day my state Georgia came out with a report that said 43,000 illegal votes were counted. That was well more than enough to win the state of Georgia. Arizona has just cometed a more intensive investigation and found the same situation. We don't yet know the details. But there was foul play for sure. Hopefully we will have Trump or someone else besides someone like potato head joe! This shebacle in Afghanistan has cut us Americans way deep to. The only person it doesn't seem to bother is joe himself . Anyways sorry I went so off topic. Tell me more about what went wrong and the platform for the police car and how it helped with the C8. I'd love to hear it! Thanks my brother!

Prices have always been high for this car. The decision to make this car thousands of miles outside of the US is why it flopped.
@joewasmund51733 жыл бұрын
@@marcusharris113 It didn't flop, they sold every single unit they had to. GM had an agreement with Holden to sell 12,000 for them in the U.S. over four years, which they did. That's also why they never marketed the car, they didn't care. They were just going to honor that agreement, nothing more nothing less

I grew up in Elizabeth, South Australia. For a few years I lived 400 metres (1/4 Mile) from the Plant, went by on its Last day, A lot of fans out the front with Classic Holden’s and Modern Beasts like this. This is is a Sick build

Put a forced induction interchiller like I did on my GTO. That will keep your engine temps way down.

I have a white stock 2017 SS, manual, with the only two options - sunroof and full size alloy spare tire. I like what you have done with your SS. It is a great looking car and quite rare. I love just tooling along listening to that 6.2L LS-3 V8. I wanted the manual and finally found a new one via the internet at a Texas dealer, and had them ship it to my home in Florida.
