As a cadillac technician these cars are so sweet and easy to work on. The CT6 Blackwing V8TT was one of my personal favorites. Had to do a intermediate shaft bearing for howling noise at highway speeds. Amazing cars overall. Sad GM always cancels them after a few years.

"Easy to work on" my ass. Coming from being a Ford technician, I havent seen a worse design on my 11 ctsv trying to do spark plugs on cylinders 7/8. Installed an AEM air/fuel gauge the other day and getting to the O2 sensor connectors alone are a headache... but at the end of the day at 650 rear wheel, it makes up for being a p.i.t.a.

@Mmmyess Its honestly sad, in my opinion a CTS-V is a cheaper and much more reliable BMW M5. You get the power of a corvette in a comfortable Sedan. Enough power to have fun and the comfort to take the family out for dinner. Plus GM is 10 times easier to work on and doesn't have the factory installed oil leaks that plague BMW and Mercedes not to mention the crazy prices Germans want for parts.

I've owned a 2009 CTS-V sedan with a manual transmission for the last few years and I gotta say, I still absolutely love it; one of the most underrated/overlooked vehicles in my opinion. It's a great blend of speed and luxury (granted, not nearly as refined as most European vehicles) without breaking the bank in terms of price point, maintenance/service, parts/mods, etc. Currently undergoing an extensive build at the moment (built 416ci, Kong 2650, E85 w/ nitrous, etc.) and the idea of making >500hp stock let alone 4 digit horsepower figures in a 2-ton Cadillac sedan truly makes the CTS-V a modern-day sleeper.

The Blackwing 5 is a handling maniac and delivers for those more interested in going fast from A to B versus straight line acceleration, where the Germans with all wheel drive hold a significant advantage, but going flat out on a back country road, they’ll be looking at disappearing taillights. If I had to buy an ICE car today it would be either a C8-ZR1 convertible when it finally gets here or the Blackwing 5 if buying within 2 years.

I don't think were done with the ICE yet, I know a lot of the "environmentalists" are all ready to have the manufacturers just drop all ICE infavor of EVs but when it finally dawns on everyone how much of strain all these EVs will put on the electric grid, and that we are essentially trading one fossil fuel consumption for another(gasoline for coal and natural gas I think manufactuers will pull back on EVs to ICE and hybrids, not to mention all the car companies battling for batteries driving up the cost to produce pure EV further, its going to be clear we are going to need ICE for cheap, long distance transportation for a long time still, especially if people keep fearmongering and neglecting to develop nuclear further.

Amazing! Just missed that the ATS-V’s LF4 was first seen in the CTS V-Sport which debuted the Twin Turbo platform as the LF3. The upgrades on the LF4 are modular to the LF3. Can swap those upgrades seamlessly. The LF3/4 platform is Cadillac’s greatest gem. Tune & mod them from 600whp up to 700+whp with moderate effort.
@danguetersloh74992 жыл бұрын
700whp is rough to get to unless you're going hybrid turbos, and then it's a waiting game for when your main bearings or rod bearings are going to give up. I'm running on a low boost tune right now to sit pretty in the low 500s. Max effort tune on E85 was 628HP/666ftlbs of torque for about $2k invested between the fuel pump cam, HPFP internals, LT4 LPFP, Flex Sensor, Downpipes and a tune.

Same motor that everybody talk crap about and said was a piece of junk.. only because GM never finished making it great and maximizing the potential and capabilities.. instead, they settle for a bad reputation worldwide. @EliteMacFreak2 жыл бұрын
The ATS-V typically does 12-14 psi boost, not 18 psi. Boost can go up to 18 psi depending on barometric pressure, so the car makes the same power at high altitude as sea level. When you increase the torque target in the ECU, boost increases to 21-22 psi, and the ATS-V makes 485-530 RWHP (571-624 BHP) on 93 octane with tight gapped colder plugs, intake, and exhaust. The limit of stock turbos is 620-635 RWHP (729-747 BHP) with E60-E85. With upgraded turbos and max effort mods, there are a lot of ATS-Vs doing 725-755 RWHP (27-29 psi boost). Considering the weight it's surprisingly quick.

I worked at a dealership the day after i got out of football in 8th grade at 14 yrs old, and that was slightly before the ctsV Came out. We got one shortly after they were released, and my dad took me out in it! It became my favorite car, IMMEDIATLEY! Especially when i seen the promo display we had, that had a pic of the cts-v-r, which had a wicked front and bck body kit, and as far as i know, was never actually released. It was more of a iroc type style thing, but fuc me if it was not sexy as hell to look at while u was dusting and vacuuming the show room every saturday lol. The only thing was the wheel hop was a major problem! We had about 10 through years from 02-08 when i worked there, and they all had major wheel hop issues. One my first test drives was wit my dad driving, and he got in it on a back road, in our small wtoming town, and we got up to 129 fairly quickly, not even on a highway, but a small rural road that led to the airport and about 19 homes and 4-7 small businesses and a church, and right when he was slowing down to the speed limit of 40, a hi po cane around the bend, and we lucked out not getting busted lol. Thank god my 14 year ild wasnt driving, because my dad always let me drive the cars, including the V and the prowler, and later the neon turbo, because he always wanted me to know how t control power, because i obviously was gonna grow up and build some piwerful cars. This paid off, because i def know how to drive, and i built a death machine chevy luv, that prob had 500 to the wheel, Nd wven though it was my fream vehicle from 6 years old, i eventually took her apart and put the 4 banger back in, because i knew i was gonna die in that tuna can if i left it together as is lol.

I have a 2015 CTS--V Coupe. One of 300 with the red stitching and the last Coupes. I had Justin at Indiana Muscle Car install a 427 Long block by Performance Tech Inc. It's built for twin turbos but since I am not a millionaire we had the stock super charger ported by Kong until I can afford the twin setup. As it sits now BHP is 806 with 804 pounds of torque.

I had a 2016 hellcat challenger and just recently got a 2011 CTS V coupe. I love the V way more in every way possible and it’s not even close

Great video. I owned an '08 STS-V for a few years (until 2019) and loved it. I'd love to get my hands on an XLR-V someday, or perhaps a gen 2 or 3 CTS-V.

I love my V2 Coupe! Just a few bolt on mods and 540HP to the wheels. The weak spot is all the plastic under the nose which rips off at speeds over 130MPH... The main advantage of the Gen 2 CTS-V over the Gen 3 is that the Gen 2 is much easier to mod. The 6L90 is the mechanical issue with the Gen 2 Vs but if you stay under 800 HP they seem to work fine.

I like the animation of the LTA engine at 9:50 showing cold air going in the exhaust ports and warm air coming out of the intake ports.

It's a Hot V design, where the turbos sit in the V of the engine. The animation is correct. Intakes on the outside, exhaust in the V.

So in 2014 Cadillac released a Vsport model for the CTS and XTS which used the LF3 the predecessor to the LF4. It was a way for them to test it I think before debuting the ATS. I just picked up a 2014 Vsport and I love it. 7:49

I went on a test drive of the 2005 CTS-V and a 2006 CTS-V, and i chose the 2006. It just felt more linear and that low end grunt was the clincher. I had the rear end modified just a hair to be able to tuck a 325 rear tire and that car came alive and was an absolute monster.

I own a STS V. I have driven v1 and v2 cts and even though it doesn't make the same power......I love my sts v over the cts. I daily drive it and it gets attention everywhere it goes. Best part is no one knows what it is so it's a fantastic conversation starter.
