Hello Gentlemen. It's always nice to wake up and see a new upload. from you guys. I hope all has been going well, and that you have now reached your mooring in the marina for the Winter. Well, all the trees here, have now lost their leaves, and tomorrow Sunday the 7th, we turn our clocks back. So the dark gloomy days of Winter will soon be upon us. Stay safe and have a great week. See you all next week.❣ Jessiah

Hey Jessiah. Hope you are keeping well. All good aboard Morning Star. Not due into the marina until 1st Dec so still out on the cut at the moment. Our clocks went back a few weeks ago, great that it is light when going to work but hate the dark nights when coming home. Everything seems better when back on the boat and the fire is lit and the doors shut to the elements. 😃. Hope you have a good weekend. ❤️

Glorious sunshine (except for that bit at the end), water like glass and automatic lock settings - a lovely, early Summer- no, wait, mid-Autumn -glide, or so it appears. Thanks for another wonderful video. I used to live in Huddersfield and moor my boat in Skipton and so have travelled this route many times. Are you thinking of wintering in a marina this year? You seemed to really enjoy being in a community last time even though it was lockdown. I can see the attraction, it’s so cold working wet ropes and trying to keep the heat going all winter but lots seem to enjoy it. Glad to hear you tested neg. Anthony, even though we’re vaccinated it’s still not 100% guarantee. Now I have to get flu jab and then the third shot in a month or so. I’m beginning to feel like a pin cushion. Biopsy last month where they took 7 grabs and it was inconclusive so I have to see a surgeon in a couple weeks . They say they are 98% sure it’s fine. Time will tell. Take care, stay safe and well.🙋🏼♀️

Hey Jillipepper. We loved last year and the community spirit of the marina. Unfortunately we can’t get back to it due to the massive breech but we have managed to secure a marina for the beginning of Dec. This is mainly so we can hopefully go away in Jan and leave the boat secure. Have had my flu jab and my booster so here is hoping I will be ok. Good news too about the anti viral pill that they have tested with promising results. Fingers crossed re your biopsy. Let us know how you get on. Weather is shocking today. Very windy. Hope you are good. Take care ❤️

Thanks for a lovely cruise on waters new with lovely weather which seems to have gone now, it was nice to see the "Little Egret" but is it a sign of global warming to see such a bird so far north in England? Those locks were huge which were made for boats bigger than Morning Star but I suppose made life easier for you to go through. It's great to see you three are doing well and the curries looked great. Take care and all the best. Stevie

Great video. The canals will seem really narrow after the river. Do you not rope up when going up in those locks? We always do, either by threading a rope through the riser poles in the lock (they’re chains inside plastic tubes) or by looping a middle rope around a bollard. It just helps to keep the boat steady. We’ve got an extra long middle rope especially for that purpose
@NarrowboatLifeUnlocked3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Sheila, we loved being in the river, we do sometimes rope up but I never get the chance to film it as it’s usually me doing it 👍
@anthonysmith-storey92473 жыл бұрын
Hey Sheila. We do sometimes use the ropes but wasn’t sure if we were doing it properly but I find that if we open the paddles slowly the boat doesn’t move around too much. The section was amazing and those locks were huge. Hope you guys are good. Ant x

Morning Star looked like a toy boat in Lemonroyd Lock! What a beautiful cruise on the river. Are the locks so big because some of the vessels where sea going when they were built? When the ITV interview is shown can you add a link for those in other countries to view, if possible. I’m supposing your weather has gone cold by now, hope y’all still have some color on the trees to enjoy. We are just hitting peak leaf viewing in Arkansas🍁. Have a blessed week and a cuddle for Dexter lad.

Hey Dawn. We had a lovely cruise. Morning Star was like a pea in a drum in that lock, quite intimidating too. The lock was massive but I guess so was the working boat and I suspect that some of the vessels may have been sea faring. Weather is horrific tonight. Really blowy! The leaves still look awesome at the moment. Paul thought he had put a link to the ITV interview but I can’t see it either. Hope you are enjoying the weekend. Take care ❤️

Does it feel almost like cheating with automated locks, haha, but a nice novelty. The canals will look narrow and harder work now, but a great experiance on the rivers. You have certainly had lots of different experiances in just your first year. Its surprising how far you can get and still be commutable for Anthony. Love your vlogs and also the paetron snippets, keep warm you three xxx

Hey Susan. I guess it did a little bit lol but wouldn’t have wanted to operate those huge locks manually! 😬. Can you imaging how many people it would take to move the gates 😂. Glad you enjoy the extra snippets of patreon and thanks for your support as always. Have a great weekend. ❤️ x

Good Morning - Happy Saturday! I'm lucky enough to have the opportunity of seeing your vlogs twice every week - once on a Thursday and again on Saturday morning. Being a Patreon certainly has it's advantages. This weeks video is exceptional. Those huge locks you negotiated - very intimidating and I'm only watching the video! Having seen that commercial vessel go by, I can now understand the necessity to make the locks so big. The camera work Paul was superb especially the drone shots. Question! - I noticed you were operating the drone from your watch. Was I seeing things or was I correct? Question number 2 - You mentioned you had a day doing all sorts of jobs, getting gas, having your hair cut and getting some diesel. When this happens, do you take Dexter along with you or keep him on board Morning Star? Thank you again for a wonderful film. Stay safe you three and I look forward to next weeks thrilling advanture.
@anthonysmith-storey92473 жыл бұрын
Morning Michael. Hope you are well. Very blustery this morning but the fire is lit, the sun is out and Dexter is chilling on his bed. Happy Saturday indeed. They were exactly my words too re the locks. Intimidating. Don’t think he was controlling the drone from his watch, must have just looked that way. Dexter comes everywhere with us. When we go for our hair cut, if we go together one of us stays in the car with him. Paul will occasionally leave him if he goes for a run as he can’t go too far or fast anymore (Dexter not Paul 😂). He said he is always chilled when he comes back and is never longer than 1/2 hour. I won’t leave him at all, but I am very soft and know he would be ok. Thanks again Michael for supporting our channel. It really does mean a lot. Have a great weekend and take care ❤️ x

Paul, in relation to topping up your battery, what does 'absorption' and 'floating' mean please? Also when will your story be on ITV?
@anthonysmith-storey92473 жыл бұрын
Hey Maureen. I think the ITV thing has already been shown. There may be a link on our Facebook page. There are 3 stages of battery too up, bulk (which is about 80% of the top up) absorption, this takes the longest time and is the last bit of battery too up and float, where the battery is full and just has a trickle charge to maintain this state. (Hope that makes sense). Have a good weekend ❤️

Hell you’d fit the QEII into those locks, but yeah the drawback is the walk from gate to gate. Do they take forever to fill. We never saw anything near that big when we were there. Automatic. Luxury. Lemonroyd is almost surfable. Does it really matter if you take the wrong turn and end up where you weren’t planning to be? Serious question. I can understand this time of the year as you probably have your winter plan already in place, but normally would you care? Another great vlog guys, thanks heaps. Love to the three of you. 💕

Hey Pauline. We were like a pea in a drum in those locks. 😬. They do take a while to fill, but quicker than you would expect. We absolutely loved Lemonroyd. We stayed there for a full 2 weeks. On a river if you take a wrong turn it is either a dead end or a weir. We do have winter plans and although it didn’t quite go to plan this year we needed to secure a marina as we didn’t want to leave the boat unattended when we went away beginning of Jan. Hope you are good. Take care ❤️
