I love the way you talk, on camera, through all the variables when choosing which direction to fall the tree. It seems this one had them all: wind, lean, one-sided branches, landing zone, and other trees (I am sure I missed something).

That was a great bonus clip with the bird at the end of the video. I loved that it took both sticks. You couldn't have been far away from it either. I've seen a few different tree fellers, but none come close to the sort of technical aspects that you show us, and that makes your videos super interesting. Absolutely love your work & the way you work, your content, the way you explain things-you would be a great instructor, the way you seem to keep your work organized, etc. The view from your office is always top notch AA++ sort of like vacation postcards, only better. Just a suggestion to keep your saw from rolling down the hill: when your knocking down the brush & small saplings before cutting a tree would be to cut out a little spot you could put your saw into near the tree you're going to cut & not have to run with it. The tree auto delimbed it's self. Nuts. I wish I had 20 of those on my land. I am a carpenter and it still hurts a little to see that. I really wish we had the GIGANTIC trees we had on the east coast before they cut them all down. Those were worth saving. West coast, too.

I can usually tell when someone's running a husky. They run at faster rpm's. They cut faster. The saw your using sounds great. It's sharp. Doesn't slow down when cutting. High rpm's the entire cut.

I use when it’s windy out and the saw dust is blowing every which way, I bought some water eye goggles and wear them under my helmet screen like yours. That way I can keep going without all the saw dust in my eyes like it was yours.

Did jobs like that in Northern California they called me in to do it differently tape it out as I climbed up limbed and topped cut out logs or climbed put a 25 ft steel choker attached skidder line and pull it where it needed to go whole or in sections

Awwwsome! Such steep terrain, a 50 foot piece of 5/16 nylon rope in your kit would help the up and down of fetching your saw, give you something pull on the climb back up. And it don’t weigh nothing.

Well.... look at the bright side. That fir didn't spin enough to gun barrel down right out of the block, everybody is still alive and the day ended in smiles save a couple aching hands. Today, these old mitts are shot from that very thing. Wedging and handlebar-itice. Both hands have been operated on from fingers curling in because of membrane and tendon memory. It became hard to grab a beer but once I got it in there it was in fir good. All good now. LOL Boy, that raven was a pro short logging those peperoni sticks out of the cut. 😆

Wedging and handle-bar itce leads to Carpal Tunnel, common for fallers, construction carpenters, HD field mechanics, farmers etc. When I saw @Bjarne Butler shaking the one hand after the axe didn't seem to hit the wedge square I could feel it all the way to my shoulders.

I’ve never used gloves unless it’s winter, then it’s just till I warm up. I e only had minor cuts from the chain luckily. Had a couple bad sprained ankles and a tailbone injury. And a bunch of slip/trip & falls. Oh and I slipped and slide down an avalanche chute once and the saw came after me cut my head open(not running). I swear that coulda been right out of a movie. I was sliding down gaining speed and it was either focus on the first boulder I was going to smash into or put all my attention on the last branch I could reach. As I slid by I grabbed the tiny cedar branch and I stopped but my saw kept going and finally stopped about 80+ft down the chute. It was mangled pretty good. Has to climb up and around to get to my saw. Finished the day and got a dozen or so stitches in my head after work. So ya don’t take shortcuts when crossing an avalanche chute

The forests of the west are badly overgrown and it needs to be done. Plus, today's clearcuts aren't like the ones they did years ago, where they would have logged that entire mountainside as far as you can see. The irony is that tens of millions of additional trees will have to be cut down to meet the housing needs for tens of millions of legal and illegal immigrants.

Big high grade , I would of changed the rules a bit and thrown up hill threw the standing timber. Even if the log is in one piece, the boards will fall apart when they saw it.

Do you understand that the forests of the western USA are badly overgrown from 100+ years of fire suppression? 40 years ago , I had a forestry class as a college elective. The professor said there were 4-5 times as many trees as there was before the west was settled. There are places here in the Sierras where you can't walk through the forest because there is so much undergrowth, plus dead trees and branches all over the place. When we have a drought, we have way too many trees competing for limited water. The result is that hundreds of millions of trees die. Those dead trees become like Roman candles when there is a wildfire. That, plus too many live trees crowded together lead to catastrophic fires that can't be controlled. Native Americans used to periodically light fires to clear excess undergrowth and dead fuel on the ground. That was banned more than 100 years ago. Just recently, the state and the feds finally allowed them to start burning again. The Forest Service is also doing controlled burns throughout the state, and they are allowing more logging.
