This is a compilation of multiple videos taken over a period of more than 80 days during the summer of 2020. Shortly after purchasing new bees I noticed that something was wrong with the queen. I eventually determined that I had a drone-laying queen and had to take a number of steps to get this colony to raise a new queen and get ready for winter. Thank you for watching!

A freshly hatched virgin queen can look just like a normal bee. Once she is mated her abdomen extends. From a queen hatching - mating - laying can take quite a while sometimes

I think that queen you killed was actually a queen returning from her mating flight. She could be gone for days.

Awesome video! That feeling when you found the Queen must have been great! Impressive that you were able to capture the whole process!

Sadly it is almost impossible to buy good queens. Under mated, damaged in transportation and so on.

Your hive needs drones. An uptick in drone production usually indicates a predator or scavenger in the area

What do you feed them in the dearth and in what amount , what is your state egg to keep them alive and ready for flora season during the winters? The icy area tells me that it gets pretty cold there at your place.

U did one thing wrong. When u killed the queen, you shouldn't use ANY of her eggs to raise another queen. You should have destroyed the queen cells from the local hive AND allowed the X frame to raise a queen cell and then use it as your queen. WHY? Because letting your local hive (the hive with the bad queen) raise another queen it will introduce the same DNA to your hive, and you most likely will have a bad queen. Anyways, I will continue to watch the video to see what happened. I just want to leave this here before i forget.
