With that pipe it will be around 58 HP. For an air cooled motor and it's age, it's a absolute powerhouse. With the gearing in the sand spider, you have a very dangerous machine. I had this one and the 250 version. The 490 would eat a Metzler tire in a couple hours.

@@bradallen3770 I had a '83 Sand Spider as well. What an awesome machine! I did some desert racing in Utah on it. Not only was the amount of power amazing, but it was a very usable powerband - smooth and deceptively fast!

I had a RM465, looked just like that 500. It was super rare and I loved that bike. Very usable power all over, just bad brakes, but that was the deal back then, you just powered through stuff. Please post a video once she is restored.

I once had a 2002 CRE500 road legal bike. Stock with baffles it did 100kph.After baffles removed & the best CR500 parts put on 100kph if you hit the throttle with no pulling back it do a wheel stand. I sold it for $9000 hardly used at all .Wish I still had it.
