Maybe Signature Solar is watching too and asking themselves how can WE produce a competitor to this server rack battery? I like the idea of the screw top to replace a cell. Thank so much for your work! You are wondring about the "strange " pricing of this battery. But perhaps this is just the wonder of the invisible hand (which thankfully also weaves over china). If lifepo4 cells are falling two digit percentages each year, some sellers are deemed to be the first to reach down into new lows while others are sitting on the fense and reaping an extra profit. But eventually all will have to adjust. Just see where prices where 2 or 3 years ago. Of course there are LOTS of bad actors out there we need to guard against. And this is whu your work is so important.

I'm confused by the tariffs. Are there any new tariffs coming that will impact small batteries like these or is it only for cars?

Can you test the Eco Worthy 5kw inverter they pair with it?
@ericgregory91036 сағат бұрын
Will, As this battery has communication ports. Have you tested the battery connecting to the EG4 off grid inverters, like those units used in your mobile carts? A follow up video demonstrating the communication and dip switches would be helpful. Thank you for your informative and unbiased reviews.

Will, do a review of the EEL battery. They are new and have a 15 kwh wall battery for $2000. Seems decent quality, but I don't want to pay and find out they're not. Thanks for the videos.

Cheap cells, cells are welded together so repairing the pack down the road will be difficult. Main power cables are rather light gauge. For me the deal breaker on these are the welded cells that will prevent user repairs.

School me here... I purchased four, 12v 100ah batteries for a total of $550. Is a server rack better bc you don't have to balance them and requires less maintenance? ps. I recommend everyone I meet to watch your videos Will, great job, and I'm learning from you as a licensed electrician!

It's a matter of how much tinkering, adjusting & monitoring you're willing to do. Server rack batteries have a single BMS which can talk to an inverter, a warranty, a metal case, and some are even UL-listed.

@joshm3342 So it does come down to convenience? Reliability and durability isn't a factor?
@P7abКүн бұрын
You can end up spending quite a lot on wire, breakers, disconnects, etc. when putting 4x12 in series

Some of the other budget models do not have comms. The other contributor to differences in charge/ discharge could be variances in the BMS manufacturing.

@Tumbleweed51507 сағат бұрын
Watch any of Will's battery testing videos where he does a capacity test. It should be the same for these, but done on each of the batteries, so will take a lot of time.

Will , isn't there a fairly new NC factory producing graphite battery's here in the US (NC I believe) they be heavier but but fine for solar an allow people to buy battery's here in the USA maybe save shipping cost for builds , but I was wondering if you have found ANY American company building server rack batteries with these USA made batteries and how they price/test?

Tariffs kick in soon.. You should do a price review.. Am sure fire sales will start claiming prices will rise tremdously. People have to be careful.

Could it be an economical BMS settings Will stopping it from getting the last few % by cutting it off early to increase cycle life? Be interesting to see the cell voltage at max charge and at minimum.

Using non-rack 8x50ah pack of them for now. The price is really reasonable unless you want to be super pedantic perfectionist. The first batch I bought was really perfect, the second felt that they are selling a lot and are overwhelmed, e.g. packages contained either only red or only black connector shields. So, that raises a question of internal assembly quality between the batches.

I am having flashbacks of the old days, expecting you to pull it apart cell by cell to find the faulty one in the pack and get full power. Sounds to me like they are mismatched cells
