Hi, do you have any insight/reccomendations on how I could acquire a left side cover for my 85 shadow vt500? Thanks!

Left side covers are hard to find. I am missing them from my 85 700 and 84 500. They seem to come loose and blow off. You may be able to find one on Ebay. Best of luck. Thanks for watching.

Hi. I lost my left side one and found one on ebay. Not that it was super expensive but wasnt cheap either. Also. It might be worth the search to try and find a set. Or if you cant find one eith the logo on it you can always get some waterslide printer paper and create your own. But enay is where i found the covers for my '83 vt500c shadow.

Can you specify what should be turned 21/2? Yours were 1 1/4 and 1 1/2. Are these the screws from the side of the bowls? Doing my rebuild right now, thanks in advance

These are the air mixture screws on the side of the carb. They come with a metal plug over them from the factory. If they were never adjusted, the plug may still be there. What I did was count how many turns until the mixture screw stops turning in on each carb. Usually it's 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 turns. That will give you a rough setting for the mixture adjustments for when you put it back together. Make sure you lightly seat the mixture screw when seating it. Don't over tighten them. I'd remove them if you are cleaning the carbs.

I checked last night. I have a front left cover that is in good condition. I have a front right that is scratched.

How do you adjust the float of it isn't at 6mm

If it's close and the carb is working good, I'd let it go. Some of these carbs have plastic tabs that contact the fuel inlet needle. I've adjusted the tab to change the clearance without any issues. Some people recommend replacing the float assembly.
