I really enjoyed the information on the shrine and the tour. I have heard of the Izumo Grand Shrine before but never knew of taking the sand from the beach to the shrine. It is a really beautiful area, one of the places I would love to visit. The Inn was also very nice and very well priced too! It looked very clean and welcoming. :)

I have not been to Izumo. However, when I was in the U.S. Marines in the mid-1980s, we did training at a base near Mt. Fuji. Several of us took opportunities to travel, spending a weekend in Tokyo. I'm not sure how it how it happened but we went to Kamakura one day. For those who don't know, there are a lot of shrines and temples in Kamakura, and a very nice beach as well. I remember seeing a giant Buddha statue that survived an earthquake or tsunami. I remember a shrine with hundreds of little statues inside a cave that were supposedly for miscarriages and/or abortions. And I remember the rain. Such wonderful, heavy rain. The umbrella stands would suddenly appear at all the shops! Kamakura was beautiful to visit. I hope it still is.

I have one more vlog of yours to see before I am caught up. I have really enjoyed all that I have seen, I appreciated how you covered every part of the travel, to give a true feeling of what it was like. With this vlog I liked the idea of bringing sand from the beach where the god's gathered to the shrine and returning with new sand to the beach. I think you would feel the spiritual energy of each place inside you and outside around you. The humour you put into your story I also like and each one has been a pleasant experience with a nice pace. Take care,

Thanks for the video and also for the handy tool RatePunk. I'll give it a go. The Dormy Inn seems to be a good place to stay and the price is very reasonable. I liked the train ride through the Japanese countryside to Izumo Shrine. Many tourists wouldn't even think about coming to places like Izumo but thanks to yourself you're showing them somewhere different from the big cities to visit which I think is fantastic. That was a really interesting tradition with taking the sand from the beach. An excellent video. Take care of yourself and have a wonderful weekend.
@travelloveranna

Yes, please try it! It's a good tool. I think many of us visit Izumo for the shrine but probably not so many tourists from overseas go visit there. But it's one of the biggest shrines in Japan, so check it out!

I love the video portion for the buck wheat soba. Soba is one of my most favorite Japanese dishes. Just look at the soba is more than enough to attract me to visit Izumo. Ha ha. I think you have changed the format of your vlog a little bit by introducing more about the location and local scenarios. And not only about the hotel itself. Very refrshing change.
