Nice... Hope she's still running for you! I've owned 5 Tercels over the years ... a 1983 Tercel 4WD, 1985 Tercel 5 door liftback, 1991 Tercel (which I still have - now with a turbo swap), 1996 Tercel 4 door sedan and a 1997 Tercel Sport 2 door. The only one I still have is the 1991 with the 4E-FTE swap. I absolutely LOVE the cars. Glad to see yours! I wish we could keep them that clean easily in Alberta ...

Those wheels are sick Richard! Also, be sure the actual wires aren't corroded near the terminal connectors....that's a common thing to happen and causes that click and fail symptom. Good to see another video my friend....keep it up.

I had the same problem with my VW based sandrail. I just wire brushed the posts on the battery and cables and it started perfect after that every time. Nice little Tercel by the way.

its the starter. the sylinoid or how ever you spell it. thats not my thing. but mechanic work is. when you turn it over to start it. it magnitize's and pulls the gear on the starter out to the gear on the engine. and when it comes together it connects the power on thru into the starter motor. thats how they do when they start going out. it eventually will not start at all. but check. there harder to find now days they want you to buy the whole starter. but if you can get just the selinoid or a rebuild kit even for the starter. you'd be in good shape. good luck. i love it. i had one back in my day lol. my early 20's. and man we used and abused that car. we would put it in reverse and get going and stopping the throttle and it would start doing backward willies. literally bringing both back tires off the ground. but yeah. goodluck

zack walker I bought it off a gentleman from Valdosta, GA back in 2015. They are near impossible to find. There wasn’t many made. It was made in 1983 from Chastain Shadow. I think I only have the only one still in existence. Yes, they are that rare.

Clean your terminals. Clean where the wire bolts to the terminal

Just picked up an 87 tercel it's also running a little rich do you think getting the carburetor turned would stop that?
