On the first episode of The Sabrina Zohar Show, your host, Sabrina, explores the reasons we sometimes pursue people who don’t want us and emphasizes the necessity of healing and self-empowerment. Rejection is painful, but it’s crucial to understand that it’s not a reflection of our worth. Sabrina explains how love that isn’t reciprocated sparks neurochemical changes, causing excitement and a dopamine rush, while breakups lead to cortisol spikes and emotional lows. To counteract this, she suggests activities like walking, journaling, and spending time with friends. She delves into attachment styles, noting that secure individuals can handle breakups better, while avoidant and anxious types may struggle more. Sabrina encourages listeners to reframe their narratives, accept their feelings, and focus on self-worth rather than taking rejection personally. She highlights the importance of recognizing cognitive dissonance and fantasy bonds, urging listeners to reflect on their past relationships honestly. By doing so, we can break free from unhealthy patterns and create space for healthier, more fulfilling connections.

Sabrina, thanks for all the straight talk in this episode. My partner of 34 years abandoned me in April, leaving me a 10-sentence note of explanation. No one in our extensive network of friends and family knew anything about her unhappiness or plans to leave me and haven’t heard from her since. Truly breathtaking. After 34 mostly beautiful years together, the bonds are cellular. Surprisingly, I don’t feel self-recrimination, but I certainly do idolize a previous version of her that vanished about four years ago following her retirement (I’m still working). It feels SO complicated, but I can see after watching this episode that it’s not-she is who she is today and if that’s 180 degrees from how she’s been for so long, that doesn’t change a thing. The new Linda and the present day Me are not compatible. Time to take my lumps and move on. Be well!

I started watching your videos this week and am happy to say I let go of someone who probably wouldnt have been great for me if I kept persuing them. Found you on instagram btw. Anyways I dont usually write these things on videos but uh your videos helped soothe me and let me think straight and hear what I needed to hear. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. People who are already subscribed to you still see this. KZbin's algorithm showed me this in my feed. I'm not sure if changing your show name is going to hurt you for people who haven't already subscribed to your content though.

Thank you! I had to listen to this episode twice. I get hung up quick, later eventually realizing I’m better off without them. I’m a work in process.

It should be called Sabrina Zohar formally known as do the work podcast. I embrace the new name. I think it was divine intervention to have the opportunity to show up as yourself. I’m glad you seized the opportunity and are example of doing the work.

I am a male and I have an anxious attachment. I have to let go of someone (avoidant attachment) that is to me one of the most important people in my life. She was my person. I felt safe with her. I adored her. We were 4 years in. Unfortunately she wants nothing to do with me as I got angry. She ghosted me and has cut me off. Why can't I let her just go? She's can be nasty yet I persist.

So this is what a “podcast” is? I thought it was always some ESPN thing that I literally never had time to investigate, lol. I’ll try and listen to the rest of this soon. Sounds interesting.
