I use the function button to swap the eye my focus square is on. Very handy for wide open narrow DOF portraits.

That's a good idea!

I use the function button for playback, so I don’t need to take my left hand off the lens or my right hand off the shutter.

This is a real eye opener considering I couldn’t pick the Nikon in the comparison shots.

@@jeffrey3498 This is the main point. 3rd party lenses are getting so good. They’ll only get closer too!

A solid comparison and some sound information. Thanks for taking the time to do this. I have my mind made up, and the Yongnou seems like the one to get based on the results alone. The icing on the cake is the cost savings. Two quick questions: 1. What lenses did you have on what camera to film this special Battle Off? One of them is really outstanding. 2. That's an impressive background, but who has to rake all of those leaves? See you next time!

@@MookieMc Thanks, I tried to make it as clear as possible but think it worked well for a quick comparison. Filmed with the 50 1.8 and 50 1.2. So I guess the 1.2 is the different one. I had to import the leave for effect, worth it? Lol

@@RussandLoz That's some impressive CGI work! It's much better than the falling spider web or whatever that was in a prior video!

I should rake them but I’m ignoring them 😬

The problem here is perhaps the rating system, all categories get the same score even they are not as important.
@RussandLoz3 ай бұрын
@@rotvonrat I see what you mean, but which would be more important?

The result could be different if you included the Meike 85mm 1.8 and the Viltrox 85mm 1.8
@RussandLoz3 ай бұрын
Yeah it could well be, maybe a future battle off if we get those lenses to try. I wonder when i the 1.4's will arrive on the market too

@@stephenspiteri_zunkus Yes I’d like to, is it full frame auto?
@stephenspiteri_zunkus3 ай бұрын
@@RussandLoz Yes it's full frame, autofocus and has a very nice clickable aperture ring. I absolutely love it and I'm pretty sure that once you try it you're gonna buy it as it's so cheap for what it is.

I don't use a 85 f1.8 prime enough to justify owning it. I'm much more into using the 105 S macro but it would be interesting to see how well that new Tamron 90 macro with 12 aperture blades might do compared to the 85 primes. The 70-200 would be a fun test especially since it has a closer focus on the lower focal range compared to the 85 primes.
