The original tdi is designed so that if someone reached for your gun you can draw the knife quickly and stab down quickly. The holster is a vertical set up not horizontal like the one you have. These in my opinion are fantastic emergency self defense tools.

The way it come for carrying handle up is best. It works faster and better for non dominate hand use which is the way to have it.

So about what you said in the intro the reason I see this knife being beneficial is if your dominant side (gun side) is occupied you’re able to get to the off side with your non-dominant hand and poke them off your holster. Of course you’d draw your gun instead if given the option. I’m certain instances that may not be possible and this gives you an option for if someone reaches into your vehicle as well.

It isn't designed for LE to have a knife fight and all you had to do was a little research to find that out. It is designed as an off hand weapon retention blade in case of a gun grab during a struggle.

The knife isn't a last ditch weapon (that's not the intended carry purpose at least), it's to use on your offhand to slash and stab at a person who has their hands on your gun trying to take it from you.

@@KnifeReview-mr8dd a couple sheriffs office in Florida use these for the above state reason. A couple instructors that are on the Marshall’s task force love them. According to them…it works

I know of at least 10 uniformed leos that are local. State and federal that carry this on duty belt as retention knife as designed

01:02 it's made for if someone goes for your gun. You put this on the opposite of where your gun is. Reaching for a gun is a life threatening situation

Mostly intended for a reverse grip... I carried one for years as security enforcement. Had to get a custom kydex sheath made to carry it horizontal, it was many years prior to being able to get one factory made. Pretty much a fast get the f@ck off me knife...

In your professional opinion what would be a better fixed blade knife to carry for EDC that you can wear with shorts that do not require a belt thanks for the video

Good question, I would look at the CRKT and Boker fixed blades. They have a lot that are light weight and a clip that should hold onto shorts as long as the shorts have a think waist band. Hope that helps, thanks for watching!

No worries, let me look into this a bit more and get back with you. Some of the smaller knives have belt clips and some have belt loops, so I’ll see which ones have a good clip that would work with shorts and let you know specifics.

I think you are missing out the reason for a knife like that. You don't end a gun fight with that knife, but rather you might have to start the fight with a blade to get to your pistol in close quarters. The fact that you spent most of your time as security means you probably never had to grapple to get to your gun. I will go one farther in saying there is a good chance you never had to draw your weapon to defend someone or something while in a working capacity. So first you need to understand the role of a blade like that I guess. Unfortunately It's obvious you don't...

If your looking for a small fixed blade for self defense this is a good option. If you want something for normal EDC tasks this probably wouldn't be the best option, it's size and handle shape are geared more for self defense/stabbing than cutting. Thanks for watching!
