Hey friend, also the reason the clip is digging is that you are deploying it backwards, the sheath is meant for inside the belt deployment. The outward bend of the clip when deployed as intended points away from the body with the smooth part of the sheath facing inward. This also really enhances the concealment factor and allows it to tuck up under armor it is designed to be deployed behind other gear on a duty belt (on the inside of the belt tucked against the body), therefore being inaccessible to a subject without prior knowledge of its location. This may also be the reason you have felt compelled to adjust it with pliers. I think if you remediate you will find it is designed well when used as intended. And I agree with other commenters. This is NOT a kill weapon. Although in the right hands it will do the job handily (it is a lethal weapon). It is designed and sold simply as a weapon retention device. Period. End of sentence, why are you trying to kill with this when its designed to allow you free access to your primary weapon which is your firearm? You seem very competent so I have to assume you just didn't do any homework before making this video because you don't seem to have an understanding of what the weapon was designed to do. This was not designed for the everyday man walking around, It was specifically designed for peace officers who carry firearms, as a last resort device if their firearm retention is threatened. If a kill is warranted, the firearm is the weapon to be used and this is designed to make sure you have access to that weapon. Stop trying to gratuitously stretch a product so you can gain. I find your review to be dishonest in my final analysis. Shame on you.

You clearly didn't pay attention to the video. He literally talks about the knife being used as a support side weapon / off hand for retention purposes. By you saying: "this is not a kill weapon" just shows me how much you really know about this tool and your experience level in general. Maybe check out TDI and John Brenner on what he actually designed this for. There is literally a video on them using this exact knife and stabbing a deer carcass and showing the effectiveness of cutting and stabbing. He's also giving an honest review of the knife for the end consumer. I should be able to buy a product and NOT have to modify it. Take your comment and shove it. You bring nothing to the table. Shame on you too.

Great video! Good solid comments. I had the TDI but got rid of it and got the TDI Hinderer Hinderance with a custom sheath from Black Bear custom Kydex. Retention is excellent, concealablity is excellent. I carry IWB on the weak side. I just subscribed. I hope you do more reviews.

The clip digs into you because you’re wearing it the wrong way. The designer himself stated it’s meant to be worn weak side, forward of the hip, inside the belt or waistband. Just FYI.

After his iconic idea of 4 knives.. I ve started carrying 7 knives including 2 boot and 1 neck knife besides carrying 4 on belt. No one can attack me from any direction now XD

03 Aug 2019 - Your presentation was outstanding! You are well-informed, experienced, clearly spoken, and well prepared to present what you did. Thank you! Near the end of the video, you mentioned knife blade length. I suggest the TDI/Hinderer Hellfire which is a product of John Benner and Rick Hinderer. It has a 3.56 inch blade, a more effective grip surface, and a sheath which locks the knife in place. That knife is made in the U.S. I currently wear one for EDC on my "off side" and will be buying a second one for EDC as well.

NSR makes a horizontal belt clip that is far superior. Also, it's horizontal carry allowing instant access by either hand ready to deploy.

26 August 2019 - You should also watch the video by John Benner of TDI. The focus there is on the "why" and the "how" of the most recent Ka-Bar knife, the TDI/HINDERER HELLFIRE KNIFE. This video you are now watching is exceptional as he explains the "off-hand" concept.

The TDI Knife is design not to kill, but to be a defensive knife. This knife is for stopping bad people from hurting you in a defensive manner without killing them .
@atlaS-zg7rs3 жыл бұрын
You're correct, it's not meant to be an offensive weapon. However the whole design is aimed to primarily protect your firearm, not as some less-than-lethal primary weapon.
@k.c.9302 жыл бұрын
From the mouth of TDI's CEO himself: "this knife was designed to help officers get out of trouble with weapon retention issues, and other situations where they can use this knife and apply lethal force." Key word...LETHAL.

Are you planning to review the new longer TDIs that have retention? ...Hellfire or Hinderer I think. I wish their longer plane curve came with a retention sheath.
@defensivemindsettraining95525 жыл бұрын
I will do one in the future. I hadn't seen it before your mention. Thanks for the heads up. Retention sheaths are a plus and minus, just like retention holsters. Whatever you decide to use, practice. Your goal should be to access and deploy that knife as fast as you possibly can from every conceivable position, especially uncomfortable ones. Then work on targeting. Edged weapons can make a lot of mess, but not be all that effective IF you're not hitting something with that blade that counts. - Train hard and stay safe.

So how about using it in the reverse grip? Advantages?
@defensivemindsettraining95526 жыл бұрын
I found it harder to use in reverse grip, but plausible. It doesn't sit quite right for karambit style fighting, but for jabbing and hooking, I think it would stay in place effectively. Stabbing didn't work quite as well because of the angle of the blade, it made the stabbing motion awkward. I'm sure not that awkward if you were having to do it to save your life though.

Great knife----ditch the sheath asap as that is shit and get a better one ie PHLSTER with belt loops or clip---loops easier to switch pants and ride closer---clip is more stable when draw and bumps it out so less concealable but less likely to self disembowel If you insist on off side carry: Turn the sheath around on your off hand so grabbing it while in reverse is forward---way faster deployment and knife edge is in the right direction already--- and less likely to cut yourself when drawing. Plus the baddies can not see it. I carry mine last 6 years in horizontal blade down grip oriented to my strong side with loops to my left of belt buckle so it allows me to grab even when prone with either left--using reverse grip or right hand--being forward grip. It is easier then off side carry as only can access easy with one hand and way less easier when prone. Also easier on your body when sitting. If you really want to carry and exactly use such as you presented:get yourself a TOPS Devils Elbow---it has forward facing edge as well ----its a dagger though and not good in many jurisdictions and also more dangerous to self when presenting that close to body in stress.

Yesterday I removed scales from mine to see what's going on with the tang. Its not skeletonized to my nightmare but has 3 holes for I don't know what 'tactical' reason. I am disappointed even reputable companies leave the tangs weak for the want of saving on steal. Kabar is running too low on steel. The skeletonized tang is BK series couldn't save them they didn't forgive this little guy too? Too bad.

Knife cut will alway hurt, especially if perp trying to grab you, most likely will slice arms and hands-dorsal and palmer. So perp gonna back off for a minute. If were talking hopped up perp on pcp or spice, then nothing will really protect you, even your firearm
