#87 How to Grow Bougainvillea Cuttings at Home? | Growing Bougainvillea Indoor

I propagate and grow bougainvillea cuttings at home using 3 different media (water, soil and perlite) in 60 days period.
I grow them at home without sun exposure, just by using of full spectrum grow light.
The bougainvillea plant is an evergreen vine that may be semi-evergreen in cooler parts of it range, where it may drop its leaves for a short period during winter. Its canes have abundant pointed thorns and grow to heights of 15 feet or more when grown outdoors under ideal conditions. Bougainvillea leaves are heart-shaped and a rich green, with variegated coloring on some varieties. The true flowers are small, cream-colored, waxy tubes, each surrounded by three specialized, papery leaves called bracts. The bracts produce the impressive display of color on bougainvillea vines, ranging from red to salmon, pink, rose, purple or white. Most bougainvillea vines cover themselves in color throughout the summer, although bloom times may vary a bit depending on the variety.

The best time to take cuttings from bougainvillea is late-spring to mid-summer, when growth is most rapid and abundant.

Until cuttings develop roots, they are very susceptible to drying out. If you don't have a bright area with high humidity, you can create a humid environment around the cutting by placing a clear plastic bag over it.
